Corona Virus
« on: Friday 13-Mar-2020, 19:57* »
I'm sorry but it's a joke, covid19 is only dangerous to those over 70 or with underlying medical conditions, why are we as a nation penalising the 99% because the 1% are at risk.
The media are having a field day with scare mongering and people are getting whipped up into he's hestiria for little reason.
I have 2 people in my family who are classed at risk, guess what, they weren't going to the rugby or the football or the country music festival or the local theater!

So it's not even a confirmed case, maybe someone just coughed! Seema fair to everyone who's booked train tickets and hotels which aren't refundable!?

So if you went to the/a game and passed on the virus to your vulnerable family member who then died , that would be ok? This is the big problem. It won’t make you very ill but it’s who you pass it on to.

It's a nasty version of flu, not the plague!
People are acting like it's the end of the world, it's only life threatening to the very old or very sick/underlying medical condition.
How far are you willing to go to protect the 1%? Forgo 2 weeks wages for statory sick pay, miss your mortgage, lose your job, lose your house?
You may think that's extreme to say so but the media have hyped this up so much people are losing there jobs because people are scared, no job, no money, no roof over your head!
They cancel rugby, football, music concerts and so on, people lose their jobs. It's fact.

This scare mongering is going to cost more lives than the actual virus as many people won't be able to afford to live and pay tier bills.
You may be rich and privileged but many live month to month and all this pandering and fear mongering is more dangerous than the virus as it's going to push tens of thousands in to fiscal hardship.

If you take 80000 at Twickenham around 8 people would die
From Corona virus 2000 die

I was going Sunday, but you have to think of people that will take it home to their families etc
It’s a game of rugby at the end of the day and we my even have a fit team by the time games re back on,

Currently the fatality rate is 1.3% yet the papers are banging on about thousands dying.

QP is correct in the storiws that the papers are making thing look worse just to sell papers.

Even SiB is quoting 2.5% which is almost d double the actual rate.

Fake news and fear mongering by the media trying to sell more papers.

Any how, me thinks this has well and truly gone OT.

Shame about the final and some wasted money, money can be replaced life cant.
Grudgingly accept the need to postpone the match.

Globally, the fatality rate is 3.7%. That is just from confirmed cases and not every country is testing huge numbers of people so it could end up being closer to 5%, which is the fatality rate in China. This is not about "fake news" or "people trying to sell papers" this is about a GLOBAL virus that is killing people, for which currently there is no cure.

I'm not saying you should be running out to the shops and taking every last piece of food you can find, or lock yourself in a room and wait for this to all blow over, but be sensible and take it seriously.

Good source for current numbers: https://informationisbeautiful.net/visualizations/covid-19-coronavirus-infographic-datapack/

(they are updating this every day or so with WHO being the main source for numbers.)

Coronavirus caused by 5G. Wuhan was one of the first cities to trial 5G. Watch and share with your family and friends.

The 1.3% is the UK rate, we have an excellent NHS so we are better protected, since we talking about the UK the global rate is not relevent.

And yes, there is lot of fake news, garlic is a cure, **** is a cure, tumeric is a preventive and oh wait were all going to die!

If you think the papers arnt making up stories to sell more than you are kidding yourself.

If you really believe the NHS is better positioned than other health services (just look at beds per 1000 people for starters) then you are kidding yourself. We are not special, it is inconceivably arrogant to think that we are.

The main driving force in the fluctuation in death rates being quoted is that this is a very new virus that we know very little about. So anyone claiming to know ‘facts’ is stretching the truth. The latest estimate I have seen from the WHO is that the death rate is predicted to be between 0.25% and 4% but hat is a huge range and just shows that we don’t really know. What we do know is that it’s highly contagious, mainly due to the fact that a carrier is contagious before they show symptoms.

As usual most are sensationalising this one way or the other, either it’s a killer virus and we all need to panic or it’s no worse than the flu and we should just crack on. The truth is somewhere in between.

Anyway, my point is none of us really know what we are talking about so I would suggest we follow the advice from the professionals and take precautions. It’s a shame the rugby has been called off, but seems the lesser of two evils.
