Music & Sport
« on: Tuesday 02-Aug-2022, 17:58* »
Enjoyable couple of days at the Commonwealth Games over the weekend (the sport) but spoiled by the constant extremely loud
music being played throughout all of the events.
Trying to think back, when was it that "the powers that be" decided that people were incapable of enjoying a sporting event without music during every break in play? Rugby is the same although things have toned down a bit more over the last season at The Stoop.
Obviously appealing to the masses rather than grumpy old B`s like me.

It was noticeable at the Australia v England games, more than we get at games in England or Europe. I'm neutral on the matter generally. I can get the idea that especially in an extended break in play at a Rugby game or between heats in an Athletics Comp or such it can be a way to keep the crowd "involved" in the event, but I can also get fed up with things being overdone (see Sweet Caroline at *every* event, Delilah at Wales games, etc.)
