8 points between 4th and relegation....
« on: Monday 24-Dec-2018, 08:30* »
The way the results went this weekend, anyone under 3rd could make the play-offs or get relegated.

Eeeek. Happy Xmas!

I think its a good thing that its this close.  All teams still need to use on so no dead rubbers.  Usually by now there is a team giving everyone else a safety blanket I think well see some great rugby in 2nd half of the season.

Must mean that everybody is sticking to the Celery Cap and the playing field is being levelled.

Your thoughts please on the situation of the league below. LI and Ealing are neck and neck. What happens if Ealing top the table? Their ground does not qualify for the Premiership will they try and do a London Welsh and go to Oxford?

I think we’ll finish between 3rd and 5th this season and honestly think we’ll be in the final next season if we improve steadily

Its all about money I think. How far will Ealings backer be prepared to go?

Ealing are in the process of building a new stand behind the posts (in preparation of London Broncos playing in SL).  They have also said that if the need arises, they can build another stand along the side (opposite the current main stand).  Would take capacity over 10k

But I don't think they can do that in the off season!

We've had several off seasons in the past and managed to build the South Stand!

Ealing is a sports ground, not stadium, they share with a cricket club. If they ever got so far , the entry mode would have to change so that rugby fans don't say they are watching/playing cricket. There is also only 1 way in/out so roads would be a nightmare.

It looks like they have enough room to build stands on three sides of the artificial pitch, and presumably that could include turnstiles. Parking would be the bigger problem, but my guess is that like Smarties they would run shuttle buses from the local stations.

Owen Slot in the Times-1st Jan, his prediction 'Premiership Clubs to announce an end to promotion and relegation(yes this was my 2018 prediction, but it is definitely coming) What does he know more than the rest of us?

Maybe it’s written into the CVC agreement. Nothing new for them to want it - Mark Evans wanted it at the turn of The century
