It seems the cards were sensitive to which way you held them in the sensor - I think the chip end has to go in first, like you were using it in a payment machine

Anyone remember the days when the words following 'probably' weren't guaranteed to be contentious?

I'm surprised the stewards didn't think to advice advice supporters to download thr app and get in that way you can now have your season ticket on your phone. That could have saved a lot of problems.

A friend of mine didnt bring his new card but used his phone. Its a good way to do it but I don't think that was communicated well.

Hundreds of people couldn't get into the game. Has that ever happened before?

We got in fine. Took the time to read the emails the club sent and realised we needed the new card but did not need to activate it. Found the cards in the filing box having put them there last year for safe keeping, worked first time. No complaints.

Their fault no one else's, thousands got in without a problem

Sorry to hear others had troubles. Our new cards worked first time and all very straightforward.

I got in fine. While not as vociferous as Adrian, I do think this isn't just a case of "blame the club". Every member who renewed for the 20/21 season was issued with a new membership card. I remember the big hoohah about it at the time & the fact that if you had been a member for over 10 years you'd get a card showing that fact. It was clear at the time that this was the new membership card for getting into the ground. There's also all the stuff of using it as a prepaid VISA card for Quins benefits, but the main thing was that it was our NEW MEMBERSHIP CARD replacing the previous one. Heck (would've used a stronger word, but I don't want the wrath of Kim-il-DOK coming down on me!) we've had threads here over the last week and a half of people asking which cards would be used and I and others have pointed out that it would be the VISA ones.

Mine's been sat in my wallet waiting for over a year to be used. Just glad I could use it at last!

“Disgrace”

Or - lots of people somehow ignored/threw away/didnt remember/couldn’t read when we all got sent new membership cards last season.

I understand you didn’t get to use them last year - but getting angry with the club because you brought a two year old members card seems a little odd.

Comms from the club couldn’t have been clearer.

There seenm to be a lot of half witted apologists for the incompetence of the club this evening - good luck to you, I'm pleased you had a good evening.

For those of us who followed the instructions to the letter with our new cards, arrived 40 minutes before kick-off and still missed the first 20 minutes of the game, there's quite a lot of bitterness.

What should have been a joyous return to the The Stoop after years of following the team and the horrors of the pandemic, was instead a lesson in bureaucratic irresponsibility.

I, with 3 others, managed to blag our way past the security to miss only 15 minutes, my 3 friends were less lucky and eventually got in 5-10 minutes later.

As far as Quins' records are concerned, none of the 7 of us was at the ground tonight because our cards couldn't be properly swiped.

So don't jeer at your fellow supporters, but instead question why Quins outsource their ticketing processes to people who don't know the shape of a rugby ball!

This just received:

"These issues obviously had a knock-on effect on our Ticketing Office which was under immense pressure in the hour before kick-off, compounded by many supporters arriving within close proximity to kick-off. In light of the feedback received on the ground, a carefully managed decision was made at around 15:20 to open the gates and safely allow entry to Members with these outdated Membership cards, to save any additional queuing to print tickets."

So incompetent that they still don't realise we couldn't get in with our NEW cards having arrived 40 minutes before kick-off!

Half witted apologists? Really? Thousands of supporters got in without any issue, no one around me who are season ticket holders had any problem getting in.

Can't comment on you personal situation, but from what I see the incompetence lies with some supporters.
