He doesn't seem to be aware of the proposal to increase club squads to around 60 to cope with extra fixtures. One imagines individual players will be carefully limited as to what playing time they are allowed. It sounds to me as if PRL's flat no to CVC means PRL are going to try to maximise revenue/profits by themselves.

A fairly well connected Argentinian on another board has suggested that Pichot is representing some business interests in Australia, so pinch of salt etc

I think every 6N game for the past few seasons have been sell outs. I've been at a full Murrayfield on more than one occasion when Scotland were pretty useless. Does the poor attendances say more about the Rugby Championship than international rugby in general?

Train for London to Edinburgh £140 return
Flight from Cape Town to Sydney £630 return

Might have something to do with it as well

He is concerned to see "how to make the Test game more viable".  It is viable in the north, the reason big stadiums, easy and cheap travel between the countries, historic rivalries and hence large number of bums on seats.

Yes some Southern nations struggle due to both travel costs as mentioned 500 Quid extra is a lot but they don't have infrastructure on the whole.  The NZ RFU always **** about how much England make from people coming to watch England v NZ.  They sell out their stadiums when we visit but less bums on seats.  The answer is to invest in a large stadium, the RFU have been modernizing HQ for best part of 35 years.  It has cost a lot but it is the golden goose come match day and worth investing in for the long term

This is very true. All the Northern Hemisphere unions play the vast majority of their tests at a single venue, with an occasional exception like the England game in Newcastle next year. Most of the Unions either own or have very preferential deals with the main stadium in their country (France being the major exception). This means they have a solid revenue stream on which to build.

The NH unions have managed to build an expectation around the whole "matchday experience" that seems lacking in the SH. By making a "home" for the national side in any sport (be it TW for Rugby, Wembley for Football, etc ) gives an emotional tie-in for the home supporters of being able to their National team in their home in a way that having games in a number of different stadiums doesn't engender.

The Brand diminished by location? How do the American Football franchises survive moving around?

By being a closed shop. With so many large towns/cities wanting to have a sports franchise, they actually have cities almost bankrupting themselves to offer franchises sweetheart deals to move:
