Argentinian Invasion

Following on from TRP reporting we are after Martín Landajo at SH, they are now saying that we are after an Argentinian prop(s) to replace Boyce who is joining Bath. No names but the part I found interesting is that whoever it may be, would have to retire from Int rugby as we do not want to lose them to any call ups.

Ah Bath now is it?Was Wasps or Northants the other day. It wouldn't surprise me if Boycie left given JM's England retirement but I'd be sad to see him go as he's starting to develop into a very handy player.

If Lambo retires (as it looks likely at the moment) at the end of the season, that would leave us with three senior Loose Head Props. That's a reasonable position to be in for rotating them during a season depending on fitness, game-plan, and naughty step duty. If Gussy can say to Boyce: "Look, Joe is obviously the senior LH, but there's just you and Nick Aut as the others in that position. You'll get plenty of time either off the bench or as a starter when we need to rest Joe or when we think you're better suited to the game we need to play against xxxxx team." then I think we can offer Boyce a reasonable development path.

Dont forget we have Head in the academy. Think next season will be his 3rd year so he should be looking to get involved.

Head would be used primarily in A-league & Prem Cup games, maybe Challenge cup if we're in that next year. I doubt he'd supplant any of the three senior players unless there's major injury crises...

Don’t think an Argie prop would be a bad option the sure love to scrummage. I think this season players in/out could be quite interesting.
In other news Charlie Matthews looked good for Wasps yesterday.

Cheers Arniepie, not heard from you for a while on here?? I would be happy with all of that, except the Clifford to Exeter one. Merrick to Clermont, who would have thought that. Any clues to the lock coming in??

Clifford only a maybe and the cards are very close to the chest on the new lock which makes me think it is someone from the GP

Won't be Etzebeth - he's apparently signed for Toulon (I think).

Could it be Launchbry from the Wasp exodus that’s been mentioned?

Id put him in the same category as Itoje, World class player but for how much it would cost us, for a player that would miss quite a bit of rugby, not worth the money (cap space). Considering we are requesting our potential Argentinian prop to retire from internationals so that we do not lose him during those periods, I cant see us bringing in a current international that would miss so much rugby and cost a packet. Ewels would be different as a) he would not cost as much and b) is quite a way down the pecking order.
I guess all will be revealed in time!!!!!
