Apart from when the knee connects with the head area.  Unless the next step is only tackles from the side or rear are permitted, there will of course still be the risk of contact with a boney hip.

This is a contact sport after all.

Lots of work going on at the moment in connection with reducing head injuries and the incidence of concussion.

This coming season, for the first time there, will be an independent doctor, appointed by, paid by, and reporting to the RFU at Premiership matches.
