Keep Saunders and Waters at all cost. Let Lewis go. I would not be surprised if Care wanted a nice payday abroad nd good luck to him.  Bring in a quality replacement. Not sure about Mulchrone. Done well Friday when he came on for Care. I dont think Simpson is the man for us though.  I think we should go big on quality at SH.

I wouldn;t begrudge Care a post world cup move away, but Simpson would be a pretty underwhelming replacement.

I like what I've seen from Saunders and Waters so far. Quins don't have a great record at bringing through and keeping half backs, so it would be nice if the current crop could buck that trend.

I like Mulchrone and think he's a better option than Lewis, but wouldn't be desperate to keep him.

Lewis, lovely guy I'm sure, but not someone I'd be looking to keep.

Saunders has impressed over the last 2 weeks as a sub in the A games. One for the future.

Very odd that Mulchrone is more or less dismissed when he's the only scrum half other than Care who has looked the goods at premiership level.

I'd agree about Saunders. Very fast to the breakdown, fast hands and quick.

As I’ve said before, I really rate Saunders. Plays a lot like Care with sniping runs, electric play, has good communication with the forwards and backs and has blinding pace. Really back him for Gallagher Prem starts this year. Really hope we keep hold of him. He’s a through and through Harlequins supporter too!

Not dismissed, more a case of unsure. reason being for me.....we bring in a quality replacement for Care, Saunders and Waters fighting it out for the bench spot. Would Mulchrone be happy being in that mix??  By now should he be thinking about being a first choice somewhere?? As I said elsewhere, I thought he was the better of our 2 SH on friday night.

He's played 20 games for Quins, the majority the season before last. I think it's too early for him to be considered first choice anywhere, although I'm sure he has his sights set on getting plenty of first team action with us this season. Based on his track record he is comfortably ahead of Waters and Saunders. Waters is temporarily out of the picture anyway.

I agree at the moment he is ahead of them both, but we are talking about next season now.  Waters going on loan will do him the world of good.  With them all OOC we need to think who is going to be worth keeping for next season and beyond.  As it stands right now, Mulchrone is my number 2.  In a years time, who knows (he may be number 1!!)

That's why I got confused - you said Keep Waters and Saunders at all costs and you're unsure about Mulchrone, yet he's your No.2! Its not like he's an experienced player on the slide - quite the opposite!

Re: Saunders - I can't help thinking we'll lose him to an Irish province if and when he gets some semi regular first team experience.

Waters has looked good at 7s, so almost nothing to go on and I think people are over-rating him as they did with Mikalcius (sp?).

Sorry QP, I probably did not explain myself.  As it stands, CM is my number 2. Lewis (no offence to the guy) just isnt up to it.  Waters is at Jersey and Saunders, as pointed out is behind CM.  Fast forward a year and all are OOC.  Saunders and Waters need to be kept IMHO.  Care, could be off (ifs and buts I know, but humour me).  Lewis can go.  We bring in a top drawer SH to replace Care.  Saunders and Waters fight for the back up spot.  That gives us 3 SH (maybe enough/maybe not??).  Im just not sure  where it leaves CM (hence the dont know from me).  CM could end up having a blinding season and this time next year Ill be saying "thank god we kept him.

Re Waters, its a fair point about the "over rating" but having seen him in the 7s, a team and his brief cameos for us I think he is a very good player. He is quick to the ball, gets it out (take note DC) and has good hands.  Add his pace also and I think we have a player on our hands.**  He also had positive reviews from his short time on DR at Ealing

**I will confess I am the man that thought Stanley could turn out useful so make of that what you will.

Re the point about numbers (is 3 SH enough).  I have read (on here or TRP) a quote from Gustard saying next season we will be looking at Quality in the squad rather than quantity, and the academy guys will be expected to step up.  That could be a factor

Happy to be corrected on this but I vaguely recall DC saying that his wife is training to be a solicitor. If so, then she'll probably want to stay in blighty for the next few years.

I feared that too but before when I read up on him and also having spoken to him, Saunders bleeds Harlequins having been the club he supported from a young age, so we have that on our side; his desire to play in a Quins shirt a boyhood dream
