Why? Outside, you can wear a mask, very low risk of transmission.

I had Covid very badly in early 2020, then happily went to packed England football matches, rugby matches - it’s very very hard to transmit outside.

I doubt I’ll be choosing to cram into a packed bar inside the stadium for long periods but otherwise very comfortable with the risk.

No evidence of any worrying severity from the new strain - everyone of course entitled to make their own choices and the evidence may well change between now and then in which case I might even change my mind. But none of the currently available facts suggest outdoor events need to be stopped.

Posting this will no doubt mean they’ll change things tomorrow just to make me look stupid.

But as I say, I think people can make their own assessments of what level of risk is acceptable to them.

Personally can’t wait for the match.

I think the sales team must be doing a good job - more that 80% sold.
I am really looking forward to meeting up with a few friends for a port-Christmas beer and a bit of rugby.

I really, really missed it last year.
It is amazing how much you value these events after they are taken away.

And how important it is for the club financially after the last couple of years.

As an aside, on other social media channels etc anyone else think its bit off with what looks like scalping by ST holders.    Fair number of people now 'No longer' able to make BG13 and putting tickets up for sale.  "Free" ST  tickets and additional discounted members ticket adding up to a nice little earner if they can shift them.... or am I just being a grump?

I would guess that it's against the T&Cs if that's happening, and any buyers of tickets would be at risk of being denied entry at the gate if the club/RFU/Ticketmaster are able to track what seat the ticket is for & can block it in the system so that the barcode on the ticket is cancelled.

With the way positive cases are going, I honestly wouldn't be surprised if there is a covid outbreak in either teams camp before the game calling it off.

Yeah, omicron seems to be insanely contagious.

Saracens are forced to forfeit their European Challenge Cup clash

Well, I'm assuming Saracens are taking much the same precautions as we are, so it takes just one crack in the protective shield...

It depends what happens. Premier league clubs have reported cases, and yet been able to carry on.  On the other hand, a couple have had to close their training grounds.

The difference in training between the two sports means comparison isn't easy. If you've got the forwards practicing scrummaging & lineout/maul drills there's a higher risk I would suggest than footballers practicing their skills.

Hmmmm, omnicrom appears to be doubling every 2 days, and with today’s confirmed # of around 4600 in 12 days , at a doubling every day! that’s a possibility of over 16 million , seems pretty unlikely as that’s 25% of the UKs population but who knows?

Personally think we are going to be very lucky not to be in an enforced locked by then anyway......
