Te'o has apparently got form for going off the leash when out socialising - but it didn't sound like Mike to get into a fight. I know he has a reputation for feistiness - but you don't play as close to the edge as he does while maintaining the disciplinary record he has without being very much in control.
I don't think the altercation had, in reality, much to do with him being dropped. I suspect that both he and Te'o were going to be dropped anyway and Te'o's behaviour may well have been a reaction to knowing that, whether tacitly or having been told. It is unfair that it seems to be perceived as the capstone on Mike's career and that for many lazy fans his reputation will be sealed with the idea that he was dropped for fighting in a nightclub. Not many will make the effort to check and realise that he was stone cold sober and trying to be the peacemaker.
But I also wouldn't be surprised to see Mike called up if one of the "fullbacks" goes down with an injury...
