Challenge for the Stattos
« on: Sunday 29-Jul-2018, 19:36* »
I was looking to find somewhere that could show me what the league table looked like last season after round 1, then after round 2 then 3 and so on...

Can't find anywhere that can tell me. Anyone know?

The only thing I can suggest is make your own - here's the results by week
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2017%E2%80%9318_Premiership_Rugby#Table

You can avoid it by using web.archive.org
They seem to have crawled and archived the premiership site at least one a week all last season.

Here for example are the standings after round ten.

Would be excellent if we could map last year's performances (and perhaps the year before's) against the roadmap - perhaps show a week-for-week comparison but also how we did against the same opponents. If you can build the table, I may be able to drive a graph from the roadmap spready.

Something like this?

https://rugby.alexdonald.co.uk/

Very rough because I've just thrown it together, but it was fun, so would be happy to add bits and tidy it up if it's helpful.

Results are from the main premiership website, and a sample have been checked against Wikipedia and the web archive.

I love this as it shows how wrong it is when people say that you have to start the league season well. Compare the relative positions of Saints and Wasps after 6 rounds of last season. https://rugby.alexdonald.co.uk/?sr=6.

For reference, round 6 was 6/7/8 October and was followed by 2 weeks of European games - often a point in the season which is used as a milestone.

very good, now if you could also do the previous 2 or 3 seasons it would be good for comparison. You did say it was fun! :)

Stats wise I'd really like to track kick percentage including kicks taken, distance and whether they were penalties/conversions, but very few sites seem to record that. ESPN I know does a Kick % stat as does StatBunker but neither of them seem to have whether they were Penalties/Conversions, any ideas?

I'm sure Statbunker separate pens and cons.

Ok, 2015-16 season added. That's three seasons up there now.

I've essentially got a little database of game results if its of any use to anyone? I'm happy to add more functionality to the tables or the site if there's something you can't get from the usual stat sources.

Currently stored for each game:
Season, round, date, time, home team, away team, home score, away score, home tries, away tries, location
