Wallace is very good as a breakdown specialist 7. But he is a one-trick pony, you can't deny that. He can't carry, he's not big, he's not quicker than your average flanker (although he's not slow by any means) and yeah, sometimes he makes quite a lot of tackles, but these days that's bread and butter for a back rower. He's just kinda good at most things and very good at one thing. That's the issue. You compromise so much by having him there - for maybe 1 or 2 turnovers per game. Is that worth it? Only sometimes... Unfortunately - because I love his commitment.

Wallace was sadly on the wane before that horrible injury. He was pushing for England squad several seasons ago, but nowhere since

I could see Wallace and White leaving.  After watching the A side, Kennigan looks pretty useful.

Fantastic news on RB - at the start of the season he was genuinely worried that the nerve damage would be career ending. It would be super to see him get back to his best form.

It's also a bit silly to write off players who are just returning from long injury breaks like Cat and Clifford. If the club has seen fit to invest in their recovery, it's daft to want to ditch them when they are just back to playing. Very few players can come straight back into full form after a long injury break, and the period where they are regaining match fitness needs to be viewed as part of their recovery.

This thread is kind of grim reading and I guess really does highlight our troubles of lack of strength in depth in recent seasons. It also illuminates some of the club wide cultural issues raised over the last year about performance and tolerance of average that many have spoken of.

Think there will be a big clear out next summer...

One of the biggest problems we've had for years, is we seem to collect jack of all trades master of naff all squad players rather than out and out decent replacements/players to genuinely compete to start. (Ross Chisolm, Alofa Alofa, Dave Ward..)

We also hold on to players for far too long trying to reassure ourselves they are still young, have shown promise et etc (Charlie Matthews being one, for a player of his size he should of been more influential than he was with his time at the club before he finally left)

Wallace is a shadow of his former self and needs to be shown the door.

Players like Buchanon, Glynn, South, Luamanu,Visser could be all shown the door and replaced without much of a fanfare.

Clifford is strange one. Cusp of England, before injuries have tainted him. Yet to see much from him, but again if he gets a run and dosen't shine then we need to say goodbye.

I agree Glynn has also done little to impress me.

Archie White is still young but he’s done very little in my opinion.

Visser is a multi-cap 31 year old winger - he's not been in great form of late but he's a superb player.

People seem quick to want to offload anyone who isn't international standard. We cannot have a whole squad of world class players - the salary cap wouldn't allow it.

Alofa has played very well, as has Glynn. Alofa is also a current international. Visser is out of form, but has pedigree and has performed well prior to this season.

Matthews, South, Buchanan... all good squad players who may not have troubled the England shirt, but who performed well when called upon. Sadly, Matthews was - for many - the club scapegoat.

I'm sure he was playing for them last weekend.

Yeah - I agree. White does nothing for me at all. I can warm to an honest trier, but his work rate always looks poor to me and he is not notably good at anything.

Kenningham looks very good though and apparently impressed PG so I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see him come in to the picture next season, probably at the expense of White.
