I love "Flower of Scotland" done at Murrayfield. The pipes, the singing, the acapella finish!

So the Welsh RFU have banned Delilah as a first step of redemption following all their own in house charming practices. Clearly never been to the theatre, opera or cinema.
Catch Carmen a tale of passion while you can before the pc police shut it down it’s on at the London Coliseum.

Are they banning every song, show, poem & film that reflects passion, desire and sensuous jealousy ?
Take, for instance, below, the very risqué, erotic poem "UPON JULIA'S CLOTHES" written by the 18th century poet Robert Herrick. Would this rate qualify for a ban alongside Delilah ?????

"Whenas in silks my Julia goes,
Then, then (methinks) how sweetly flows
That liquefaction of her clothes.

Next, when I cast mine eyes, and see
That brave vibration each way free,
O how that glittering taketh me!"

Maybe "ban" is the wrong word. But why stop the choir from singing it when the crown love it? And why announce it?

The latter because they're desperate to be seen to be doing something in light of recent events.

The former because, well, it IS a song about a jealous stalker stabbing a woman to death, and probably someone decided that wasn't a great look - even if it is a great tune. The crowd don't really sing it on their own and by all account it's been a very rare thing to hear for the last decade. The choir hasn't sung it for 7 years apparently. So it's a non-story.

I'm sure the principle of it will annoy people and that's absolutely fine, everyone's entitled to their own opinion - but it's a bit different to people being told not to sing it. The crowd are perfectly welcome to sing it like they've been able to do (and not done) for years...

I think if you take it within the context of what has happened to females in the WRFU and the suggestion of sexual violence towards them , you might see it as an avoidance of further inappropriateness. A bit like you wouldn’t sing   “ferry cross the Mersey” if one had sunk and people had been drowned.

Has anyone looked at what crowd favourite ”sweet Caroline” might be about, it might not be as innocent and happy as we all might think

Isn’t it a recipe for a weird salad - swede, carrot, lime

Come and see our virtue!......
For Pete's sake just because a song references something it does not encourage it or signify approval of it 🙄
Pretty much all classical art would be in trouble, as has also been pointed out most opera, not to mention Bill Shakespeare....
