Eddie Jones will find out next week the verdict of the Rugby Football Union’s investigation into a dismal Guinness Six Nations.

More concerning is the video of Genge (on top of and apparently elbowing Sexton repeatedly), who appears to have been let off as he escapes citing. Doesn't look good from the angle that the video is shot.

Wouldn't have been a red card offence, I don't think. He rubs a forearm in his face rather than strikes with the elbow.

Tis always nice that the Celts are so eagle eyed and keen to find any transgression to put on Twitter after the game.

I imagine this will be jsut the tournament review which they will have after every 6N and autumn camapign. typical media hype around england losing a few games. England had a dip in form like this in 2018 and came back strong in Autumn, I back them to do the same. if not, then maybe look as bringing someone else it.

Eddie won’t go as there is no replacement. Baxter does not want it and McCall will want to get Sarries back up and playing. I can’t see overseas coaches wanting it with Covid floating around

It's very well paid but I also reckon it's a pretty awful job at times. You've got a great player pool in terms of numbers but your players play in a competitive league and you enjoy only modest control over them vs. your competitors in the Celtic nations and NZ. Expectations are justifiably high, with a 6 nations win frequently expected as well as a usually being expected to get Semi finals in the World Cup. You're most people's cup final, particularly in the 6 nations but also for most  of the other nations. On top of that you've also got 57 of Will Carling's favourite people to deal with.

That said - Eddie has managed to back himself into an odd corner on so many issues with his inflexibility. Much of this he brought on himself, some of it not.

I agree with most of that but the "57" is an anachronism regarding the England team; they have nothing to do with that side of things.

- "The review into England's poor Six Nations has been moved forward from May to April, and will involve a panel of rugby experts both inside and outside the RFU."
IMHO it depends on who is available/wants the job now; either Eddie remains in post until after 2023 (not to be renewed) or a successor is in place by September to allow them to start with a blank(ish) sheet for the autumn internationals. The shadow summer tour to America, if it happens, is probably too soon for any new appointee. In some ways a successor would need to be lined up and agreed, at least in principle, before the report is issued to avoid the double whammy of a firing and then preferred choice turning down the job.

Plus the cash-strapped RFU would need to have the funds to pay off Eddie.

Insiders have indicated that it would not involve an expensive pay-off because of the terms of the agreement, despite his lucrative salary that is in excess of £550,000 per year following his post-Covid pay cut.

The cash strapped RFU was wise enough to put a clause in his last contract that means they can dump him with no pay out!

England players to be asked if Eddie Jones should stay on

but for a bunch of those players a vote to drop Eddie will be a vote to stop playing for England. They'll surely stick with the devil they know.

Baxter's contract running in parallel to Jones' is no great revelation. Baxter saying he doesn't want the job before then puts the RFU on notice that he is not their man if they get rid of Jones now. And they would need to make a knee jerk reaction in finding a new coach from a standing start.

Not that Baxter is the only man in the running, but suspect if he was happy to take the role on now Jones would be off.

Re Baxter.  People moan about EJs style etc, Baxter and Exeter have had a fair bit of grief for being "boring".  Yes they win stuff, but they are not the most attractive (and Jones has won stuff in the past and been labelled boring)
