It's very well paid but I also reckon it's a pretty awful job at times. You've got a great player pool in terms of numbers but your players play in a competitive league and you enjoy only modest control over them vs. your competitors in the Celtic nations and NZ. Expectations are justifiably high, with a 6 nations win frequently expected as well as a usually being expected to get Semi finals in the World Cup. You're most people's cup final, particularly in the 6 nations but also for most of the other nations. On top of that you've also got 57 of Will Carling's favourite people to deal with.
That said - Eddie has managed to back himself into an odd corner on so many issues with his inflexibility. Much of this he brought on himself, some of it not.
