I don't think a single player went the whole game without moments of sloppiness and ineptitude.

Nilling anyone is an achievement despite it not being a classic. Signs of England attacking with much more of a plan and a greater degree of patience.

Wasn’t a bad performance. Hopefully against Wales we will see Randall keep his place. We lost all impetus when Youngs came on, but with EJs thinking with all those caps he must be the better player anyway.

Don’t think I heard Ewels mentioned other than mistakes he made. Not sure how long Ludlum is out for but I’d prefer him back with Lawes and Itoje as our second row.

The main issue I have with how England played is they capitalised off a lot of penalties from poor Italy play. Against the proper teams in this tournament those chances won’t be there as much.

Youngs will start every big game between now and the world cup regardless of how bad he is.

You could play any English qualified premiership second row and I doubt any of them would be worse than Ewels and many better.

I honestly don’t know how he gets selected. He’s not someone you see making barnstorming carries with grunt, not is he really that athletic lock that gets around the park like Itoje.

Rightly so as Van Poortvleit isn't quite ready to take over yet.

Is JVP still not proficient enough at knocking on at the base and throwing passes a foot above the receiver's head?

Talking of vP, I wonder how much Youngs being at tigers is stalling good development. Quirke has really benefited from Faf being unavailable and Randall is clear first choice at Bristol. A season ago I'd have said vP was in the same bracket of future stars.
