BlucherQuin - I really am sorry that you seem to have got a bit grumpy about this.

We have done this question of getting England tickets several times on this board.

Your best bet is to join one of the smaller local rugby clubs. Probably as a social member will give you the right to buy tickets, check before handing over your money. I don't know why, when the answer has been pointed out to you more than once, you won't accept it.

For the record, I haven't bought tickets at Twickenham for about fifteen years. I just think they have been too expensive for a long time.

Quicker I’m not being grumpy in the slightest and you’ve totally misunderstood my post.

I know how to get tickets, as laid out very clearly above, so thanks for being condescending, I “do know why” and have “accepted it”.

But either way you’re having a totally different conversation.

Glad I went yesterday, amazing atmosphere and a great game, went expecting a good shoeing but the team played well and I don’t care what the snobs think it was great to drown the Hakka out

Also going next weekend, lower tier £45 each
Joined England supporters club a few seasons back and have got tickets every now and then
Was yesterday expensive, yes extortion, was it worth it, yes

Sorry. No condescention intended. I thought you didn't know how to get tickets through a junior rugby club.

I (probably) will not contribute further to this thread.

It was a great game to be at. Very very few seats not occupied. Drowning the NZ folk dance was very satisfying. A huge mistake by New Zealand. Twickenham man is not a natural singer/supporter, but that got the crowd going before even the ball had been kicked.

I’m glad it’s now generally accepted (right?)

Doing in 2014 we were told by people around us not to - and ignored them obvs.

Never understood why it was compulsory to give an away team a massive psychological advantage.

BQ - I think that tickets for these matches have been available in the past.  I remember going to England v Aus in 1997 by just buying a ticket.
However, in the past, you needed to either go in person to the ticket office - or call daily asking for returns.  Sometimes you got lucky.

Now, however, I think that the technology has changed and they are now accepting home printed tickets - which I don't think that they used to do.
So, in summary, I think that the situation has always been like this - it is just that technology is making it a bit easier.

If you guys go to the game this weekend take a Zeelo (zeelo.co/rides/harlequins) - so much cheaper than the train and if its your first ride you can even get it free. Let me know if anyone wants to use my promo code so that I can also get £10 off. Thanks!

Yeah, next time just write "hi I work for Zeelo, please use our buses".

I'm sure it's a wonderful service but your other post in which you pretend to have "discovered" the service while being a Quins fan is ever so slightly silly.

Really unclear how this ended up as a discussion about selling out the stadium or not.

The RFU makes tickets available to “grass roots” via clubs (that I’m not a member of) and ballots for places like Quins, England Supporters Club and residents ballot (that I am). It’s the basis of the entire way they run rugby.

It has always been pretty much impossible to go to games otherwise.

This autumn, something has happened that means hundreds of seats have been released for the most high profile games the RFU has to offer.

The SA game, got multiple offers of tickets from Quins and RFU all the way to game day - and in the end they went on general sale.

ABs, again lots of tickets made available at to England supporters club members despite being told how high demand was and that the ballot we were all in would be limited - this has never happened before for a game of this level.

There are currently hundreds of seats available also for Australia in almost every block, including lower tier halfway line. This again has never happened before.

So why could this be? Price could be the answer, as I was suggesting. It could be something else if course.

The RFU says tickets are for the “rugby family” that’s why it’s so hard for most people (including me despite vast effort) to go to England games other than v Samoa or Barbarians or whatever.

Now they are putting tickets on general sale the day before the biggest match at HQ in 4 years (arguably) having not found any “rugby family” to buy those seats.

Of course people will buy them if they’re offered for general sale.

My question is how these two things are at all compatible.

The “rugby family” didn’t want the tickets - in numbers that in eight years of trying to get tickets via all these methods - I and a lot of other people - have never seen before.

Why bother being a member of the England supporters club for “access” to tickets if I just need to be a bit richer and wait until they’re dumped on the website?

The RFU flogging off seats at the last minute to anyone who will buy them is not proof that everything is rosy, except for them financially.

Which is fine - but totally at odds with their stated ticket policy.

BQ ,
A number of tickets for all AI's went back on general sale in Mid October .
Im told it was because only 4 of the 5 new Corporate Restaurants in the East Stand were ready for use.
I don't think that will be the situation  for the 6N .

How do they get a psychological advantage? I would have thought that players facing the Haka get a similar boost to the players performing it.

You’re letting your opponents dominate you psychologically in your own ground, and psych themselves up for the match - never understood how they’ve got away with claiming some kind of made up cultural nonsense if people challenge them on it.

It’s like us going to Cardiff and being the ones who put on the fireworks and sing the roof off while forcing the Welsh fans to be quiet so they don’t disrespect our traditions.

I guess some players may be intimidated by it but that's up to them.

Well it’s not really is it, you don’t make a conscious decision to be intimidated by something.
