It sounds like you have no idea how people can psych themselves up.

Do enlighten us. I’d always assumed that screaming a war dance at the top of your lungs and challenging your opponents wasn’t a bad way.

Whereas, and we are clearly naive and must apologise for this, having never played any sport or known anything about people or sport or having ever read, watched or experienced anything, we assumed that standing still quietly in a naff tracksuit wasn’t ideal by comparison.

It’s pseudo cultural nonsense and has been used to give them a boost in what should be difficult away environments for far too long.

As someone says, let them do it during the warm up if it’s so important - then sing the anthems and crack on.

Do it at home by all means, then like having the roof closed and mass singing in Cardiff, it’s just part of the experience of going there.

It really isn't "pseudo cultural". I completely understand the arguments against it, but regardless of what the 70s sides did, hakas have huge meaning in NZ culture.

How do you think boxers or cricket batsmen psych themselves up? By doing a Haka?

The idea that it’s so sacrosanct that when they travel, the home team has to obey certain rules when it’s performed is pseudo cultural nonsense.

The haka itself is of course part of Maori culture.

But rugby matches are not.

I thought we were having a civilised discussion here and now I get insults? You suddenly tell me I know nothing because I don't agree with you? You are Donald Trump and I claim my £10!

This. The whole standing still watching thing is what I object to.

Well our psyching up shall henceforth be "Swing Low" sung at full volume. Why can't the players join in?

Maybe the players could be allowed to make the gestures, too?

It's lucky none of the other Pacific teams have this cultural tradition, otherwise the rest of the world wouldn't get a look in at the RWC.

The Haka is why NZ can charge £7,000,000 just to turn up.

Thankfully there’s no way that will have happened. When they last tried that, they got told where to go in no uncertain terms.

That invoice was returned unpaid.

They do not and did not get £7 million

And I hope they never do. Where did you get that particular piece of rubbish from?

My bin.

There's no smoke without fire. I'd bet my shirt on it.
