Not exactly fantastic journalism. No insight as to why is happening, no suggestions for how to fix it....

But yes if rather be in with a shot of winning the challenge cup than getting smashed in the champions cup!

Yes, in the last season or so, the English teams don’t look as good as a couple of seasons back. Leinster/Ireland aside, and even then only the scale of the victory was a surprise, were any of the opening weekend results that much of a shock? Bath should’ve won and would have but for Burns, Exeter v Munster was played in ludicrous conditions. Gloucester could do anything from do well to bomb and Sarries will be there or there abouts.

Don’t get me wrong, all is not rosy but all that article does is sling mud and, in typical English rugby journo style, royally put the boot in. And anyway, the opening weekend isn’t even over yet.

Well seeing as no promotion relegation in Pro 14 they only seem to focus on Champions cup, as some games it looks like they run out their a team unless it’s a local derby
The French also seem more focussed on Europe as the main goal with top 14 coming second

The English side have the Premiership, Europe and now the premiership shield, and also relegation so it’s hardly surprising, also with no Tv coverage on challenge cup in the UK for round 1-6 you can see that going down the pecking order of importance with no Tv revenue

Look at the amount of games the English players have compared to the others.
That being said looking forward to Grenoble next weekend and being in a competition we could do well in, here’s hoping

To save you all a little time, a summary of the article is:

"Look at me! Look at me!!  LOOK AT ME!!!!"

I haven't read a single article or comment from a fan that suggested Saturday was going to be some sort of judgement day, or that English clubs were going to right some wrongs of last season. I presume this writer is just making stuff up.

Quite. I haven’t heard anything of the sort from any of the English clubs. All the article was missing was some form of ‘arrogant English’ type comment.

Come on clear eviddnce we only lead two of the four Champions cup groups and two of the five challenge cup groups better than any other league so yes we are doomed

I’d say there’s plenty of perfectly good rugby journalism - but the click bait of the Indy isn’t one of them - nor most of the rugby blogs or sports article aggregator sites which are basically self publishing for anyone with a keypboard. People keep circulating pieces on here that are by some kid in college who’s never had a job as a sports reporter.

Haven’t heard anyone credible spouting this risible nonsense. Just because it’s got a byline doesn’t mean it’s journalism these days.

And Newcastle beating Toulon in South France just shows how daft the above articles statement is.

Newcastle Falcons take a bow 👏🏽

On reflection, and seeing some of the highlights - this was a pretty good opening weekend. Whilst for Quins, this year, I think it’s good they don’t have the pressure of being in the top tier competition as they rebuild, I really hope they are back in it next year!
