Ex Quins at Falcons
« on: Sunday 28-Oct-2018, 16:39* »
Watching Sam Stuart and Tim Swiel now on for Falcons, Swiel gave away a poor pass to create try for Chiefs, playing FB but quite gung ho and all over the pitch be interesting if they both play next week. I guess not many will remember Sam who Quinssa funded to go to Kiwi land.

I remember Sam as being a very promising scrum half who broke I to the A team the same year as Joe Marler, but two bad knee injuries robbed him of a bit of pace and seemed to put him in the wrong place mentally. It's great to know he's playing again, even if he never realised his potential with us.

Thanks to a trip to the barbers, Sam Stuart is unrecognisable from his time at Quins.

didn't he go to Richmond and then DMP???  (Stuart).  Thought at the time he could do better than that (no offence)

Well presumably Deano knew him from his academy days and gave him a second chance rather like Rory but let’s hope he can carry on playing for A team.

Richards said: “Sam is a very skilful player who was a promising academy prospect when I was at Harlequins, and it is great now to have this chance to work with him up at Newcastle."

“He has done very well during his time with Richmond and is already familiar with the North East from a spell playing at Darlington Mowden Park.”

The announcement when he left was very vague, and I wasn't sure if he was leaving for disciplinary reasons or just fallen out of love with the game / Quins and wanted a fresh start

Deano's been a bit of a specialist in reclaiming players from former lives who've fallen out of favour after he left. Good on him.

Nothing official but he definitely messed up and I think drugs allegedly might have been involved
