Fixtures during/after 6N
« on: Friday 21-Jan-2022, 08:29* »
Dunno if this was asked before, but what’s the reason for playing Prem games during the 6N and the Prem Cup afterwards? Makes no sense to me.

Penalise the teams who have players away with England

Think its a good idea as it stops clubs abusing the top players, and guarantees they get 2 weeks off.

That may be it. It's another long season and it's probably more important in the long run to give players a break than have everyone available Prem games

We're gonna need to dig in for the next 6 weeks and just keep cycling through the extended squad as needed. Stick to our principles and processes, keep playing the same way and it'll come good.

It's the "keep playing the same way" bit that will be most challenging. Dommers and Smith really do set the tone and bring so much momentum to our attack. Allan is a different type of playmaker to Smith and whoever steps in for Dommers has huge boots to fill in terms of providing even half the number of busts through midfield. Esterhuizen is the key man during this period, no doubt about it - he'll be the one we look to to pick up the slack and give us that go forward. Really hoping Chis can put a string of games together too.

Next 7 games (and named 6N squad players possibly absent)

Bath v Quins (Bath missing 3E+3S)
Quins v Sale (Sale 3E+1S)
Sarries v Quins (Sarries 4+1S+1W)
Quins v Wasps (Wasps 1E+1W)
Worcs v Quins (1S)
Quins v Newcastle (1E+1I)
Bristol v Quins (2E+1W)

Got to target all home games and away at Bath (winnable), Sarries (they'll be missing 6, so a chance) and Worcs (winnable). Bristol away with them not losing too many players and revenge on their mind - that will be a tough one.

Do that, and I suspect top 4 would be secured...

IF that's possible, then last 6 games, with firm grounds and hopefully sunny weather, fight for home SF place.

He is but is named as an Edinburgh player on the Rugby World website where I looked at the squads - which is evidently wrong!
