Completely missed this story, but ABSOLUTELY NOT should an away team be allowed to distribute 1500 flags to fans at an away game.....NO NO NO!!!!!

Are you talking about the Leinster flags at Bath incident last week? Quite funny all round really. Do find the Irish preciousness about it equally as funny as the Bath elf and safety element.

I dont see why not. Have we become a draconian society where freedom of speech is abolished? No. Nothing illegal in it and the healthy and safety talk is rubbish.

Maybe Barf should have dipped into their own pockets, and given flags to the home fans at every entry point????

Whole story was fairly amusing but also fairly pathetic. Banning flags will not stop Irish away support being loud and proud. Stopping season ticket holders flogging their tickets to those fans would be more effective

Seems perfectly clear to me - produce the required fire certificate and you can distribute your flags.
Haven't got one? No flags!

I suspect Leinster were just doing what they'd always done, and they hadn't really twigged the change in requirements for the English clubs.

I do indeed. The IOrish  seem to think they are the chosen ones

I can't believe that Barf would have searched every fan coming in for flags & taken them off individual supporters who couldn't produce a fire safety certificate for it. They just wanted to stop the organised distribution of flags by the Leinster Supporters club at the ground. Are they going to stop all Tigers fans on the 30th from taking flags in? I doubt it.

Bath were heavy-handed about the whole thing. Leinster Supporters club were definitely cheeky trying to distribute the flags at the Rec, but Bath in my opinion come off worse in this situation.

I seem to remember at Wembley some years ago when we did the same against Saracens.

Can we also please remember that not everyone who follows Quins are English?

Apologies. My post may have come across as rather a generalisation. My point was more that I've come across more than a few supporters of the Irish provinces who seem to come across as exceptionally holier than thou, get precious about things and seem terribly offended/confused to find that others can be very passionate about their team too. I've also met a loads of supporters of the same teams who are a great bunch of people.  The whole thing is quite daft really.

I heard (one of the rugby podcasts - can't remember which one), that Leinster have in the past tried to do the very same thing (or similar) to Scarlets fans, as happened to them at Bath.  If so, bit of a case of reaping what you sow.
