A nice article in The Guardian concerning Kolkata's Future Hope charity, and Harlequins' (and in particular Mark Lambert's) involvement:

Thanks for putting this up Radaerius. I went there When I was in Calcutta in 2008 really through Quins connection and have supported them ever since Tim and his wife do an amazing job which is why I suggested in 2018 that Quinssa should support them which they now do. They have a couple of meet ups in London for supporters each year. Rugby School have also collected money and sent down kit and Mark took Luke Wallace and some of the other lads down there a couple of years ago. Well worth supporting as the money really goes to the school and kids and not on high admin costs.

Thanks for posting that. It's a really nice story. I'm sure someone on the Guardian features team will stumble across it at some stage and condemn him for white saviour syndrome, etc, but until then, well done to him for such great work

Very weird to use the Guardian's article boosting this to criticise the Guardian for imaginary future negative coverage of the same thing...

The Guardian does have a certain rep though to be fair! You should see how utterly hostile their political commentary is on the Government...no attempt in some cases to be liberal minded.

I know that the original article was in the Guardian. My point was that it is exactly the sort of enterprise that some of the Guardian comment / opinion columnists would write a scathing piece about - Ash Sarkar comes to mind. Not all writers for the same paper have the same opinions. I am sure that some columnists probably think that rugby is an awful middle class, male dominated pursuit, etc. In exactly the same way that it wouldn't surprise me if someone in the Telegraph or Mail praised some charitable enterprise then Toby Young or Alison Pearson wrote a column the next week criticising it for encouraging lazy, communist, degenerate behaviour, or something.

Anyway, was only a light-hearted comment. Not intended to cause offence or, more to the point, to take away from the good work being done by the charity.

Luke Wallace is doing a charity bike ride for them today I think. Link below. I don't I've posted as a link so you'd need to copy and paste into browser.
