A powerful article and some shameful events, hopefully attitudes will start to change more quickly

Wow, so sorry to read some of this stories from Kate Rowan.

She has been treated disgracefully.

I heard that RugbyvLeage world cup is going on this year. They are playing the Mens, women and wheel chair world cups at the same time often in the same stadium.

The prize money is split equally amongst each variant of the world cup.

Just bloody awful and embarrassing for the sport as a whole. For gods sake women, please report this stuff as it happens to someone in writing or an e-mail so that there is a written record, which makes it harder for them to ignore.

The court of public opinion is so quick to dismiss these things because they are reported later or not reported whilst someone's career is furthered and makes it harder for certain people to believe.

The world is changing and we need to do what we can to stop this vile behaviour but remain balanced in how we individually judge what we hear.

It never ceases to shock and sicken me to hear stories of this kind of behaviour by some men. Many women I know have told me what has been said to them or done to them by total strangers and work colleagues. I have experienced comments made by men about women that made my blood run cold with horror at what they would do to them. That’s not men I know just ones that think a total stranger like me would think it was funny.
I’ve no idea why people say and do these things but as we see with racism it’s more common than you would hope.

I don't want to take particular issue with you, Banstead, really, but surely the message should be: "Men! Stop doing this!" Women have failed to report these things for so long because very little is done about it - the rate of conviction for sexual assaults and **** etc is pitiful (and you can get more jail time for noisily protesting than for ****). Writing about it may well help, and they should be encouraged to report, but men must stop doing it, first and foremost.

If you see this sort of thing happen - call it out - imagine if it was your wife/sister/daughter: you wouldn't stand for it, so call it out!

#Callitout

Edit: for some reason, the auto-mod has moderated the word that looks like a bright yellow crop flower used for cooking oil (but allowed the plural form!). So for **** read yellow flower...
