Just felt in the interest of balance after the result today, I’d post this.

Obv was a fan-bloody-tabulous week on the training pitch...

I'm happy to support this -

One loss doesn't make a team terrible - one win doesn't make a team great.

BUT - The performance and style against Exeter showed growth - Quins tried to be tight, hard, defensive and win a kicking game - against an incredibly strong side. they did well for 70 mins. Yes they were holding on.

Today they showed they can still pass and run - when they have ball and teams afford them space.

It's almost as if they have two ways of playing - something that 'fans' on here have wanted for an age.....

And last week it was Exeter.  Not sure what the point is?? We can only play what is in front of you, and today we did that very well

We’re a decent outfit with ball in hand. We’re poor at the kick chase.

I see what you're saying, but on the evidence so far, we have two ways of playing but only one is successful! I'm being glib obviously and realise the opposition was slightly different. We do definitely need a plan B and I'm pleased we're trying to develop one, but I'd always want the attacking plan to be the default option. The best teams play their preferred style regardless of the opposition, they don't change how the play depending on the opposition.

Oh look, Bath are 35-3 down against Chiefs with 10mins to go. It's almost like Chiefs are actually really good and everyone over-reacted to our unfortunate collapse in the last 10mins. Imagine!

And Bath were a form team post lockdown! Today showed what we are capable of doing in attack.

Yes not a bad result against Exeter in retrospect after their demolition of Bath

It'll be an interesting game away at Gloucester who also bounced back from opening day defeat with a healthy win. A difficult one to call either way. Should be a good measure of where we are as a team. Exeter are by far and away the best team in the league and whilst we were impressive today, Saints are going through a dip in form.

I've kept my negative views to myself as many on here will back me up on.... ;D But, this was a good response to a fairly poor exeter showing.

The key for Gustard now is convincing us that we are better than what we have been for probably the last 7 years which is a "play great and win, but lose the next 2/3" type side. I know we joke about consistency but this is where it matters if we want to actually have ambitions for winning anything. Gloucester won't be easy, but as long as we go and apply ourselves in the correct way thats all that matters.

I have to say Exeter's result against Bath, who were one of the form teams at the end of last season and touted for top 4 this season, shows that last week we were well beaten by an amazing team. Hats of to Quiins for displaying grit and determination last week and for playing really well this week and getting a handsome win over Saints. Well done Gustard and the rest of the coaches and well done the team. I think some of us (me included) overreacted to a loss against a superb team last week.

The question is can anyone beat Exeter or will they end the season with a 22-0 win record?

For me as a Gustard Out fellow, I saw a glimmer of hope in the Northampton game, I was entertained.

I don't mind losing along as we play some nice rugby and in the process play for the full 80 minutes.

Appart from when Gray came on and our lineout collapsed we played well and as a team, I can't ask more than that.

I'm fine with the tactics of score more tries than the opposing team as at least it will be entertaining even when we lose.
