Harlequins to sign Danny Care
« on: Friday 07-Dec-2018, 09:32* »
According to rugby rumours

Harlequins set to secure their world class ace
Harlequins are on the verge of tying down England international scrum half Danny Care to a new contract.

Care has been at Quins for 12 years and has been a key part in their European Challenge Cup and Premiership success in that time, however he is out of contract at the end of the season and undoubtedly would have received offers from a number of rival clubs.

Quins were reportedly looking at Wasps number nine Joe Simpson as a like for like replacement however The Rugby Paper report Care is now close to agreeing new terms.

Care has made no secret of that fact he would like to stay at Quins, speaking about his contract situation on the BBC podcast Rugby Union Weekly.

Care currently has 84 England caps, the most recent coming against Japan this Autumn and he looks set to become a centurion as a key member of Eddie Jones' England squad.

Great news. It would be like signing a Marquee player.

When Wigglesworth extended his stay at Saracens, one rumoured option closed. If you look at the other Prem sides there are not many other options for a move with the exception of possibly Sale if De Klerk moves on. There are probably a couple of French sides that would be interested in Danny's high tempo game still.

Simpson as a like for like replacement? That's verging on defamation

I'd be gutted if we signed the bald winger (™ BRW)

Faf’s in year 2 of a 3 year contract. It may of course be a 2+1.

That said, the prevailing hope amongst Sale fans is that as Faf is advising his mates to come to Sale and we are giving him flexibility around SA games, he’s a happy camper and will stay at least until the end of the 3 years.

Also I’d guess his price has gone up a bit at the moment with his world player of the year nom and he can’t be a marquee player at another Prem club so that only leaves France, Japan or back to SA.
