Alex Goode always looks good playing in a dominant Saracens team, has generally never managed to show the same form when playing for England.

Exactly. As an England supporter it’s an eternal frustration. Looks absolutely blinding for Sarries but he looked like a fish out of water for England. Always felt MB copped a fair bit of flack for not being Goode unjustifiably.

Completely agree. When will some fans and pundits finally get this. Some players are excellent premiership, even European players, but for whatever reason can never make the step up. Maybe it's different tactics at top level, maybe it's just the step up in intensity, quality of defence, etc. Goode is far from the only player to have this problem . Recently Simmonds has been a bit disappointing at international level, but I'll accept that he is still very young and inexperienced, so certainly not writing him off yet, but you can see why Jones might prefer players he knows can hack it in a world cup year. Also Simmonds is now crocked.

Anyway, can't wait to cheer Mike out. Great achievement. Needs to score a try to keep Danny at bay for most tries

"Watch Mike Brown run out for his 500th cap on Saturday")

At which point, people would still be claiming hes too slow, not as good as Foden/Goode/Watson/whoever is the next flavour of the month...

That is both funny and too true. Can’t stand anti-harlequins people who just naysay the talents of players like Brown just on the basis that they are a Quin and they don’t like anything Harlequin. He may have his up and down days but it doesn’t justify the amount of tosh he gets thrown at him. Tell it to the judge I say

I'm glad he's got a few years left in him still. He's a very good player, one of my favourite Quins.

Along with Care, Robshaw and Marler I would always play him if fit.

Agreed Deadly. He's a real gem, some don't like his never say die attitude, personally I love it. Same as Marler, who for all his silly cards, is a quality player. Robshaw, nuff said. And Care is electric when he plays his natural game, something I think he maybe needs to rediscover.
