Ibitoye
« on: Tuesday 12-Jan-2021, 09:39* »
is apparently leaving Agen, possibly on loan to Montpellier for the rest of the season before a permanent move elsewhere. Rumours are Toulon & Bayonne are interested, as are Ealing if the talked-about promotion & Ringfencing happens.

Agen are bottom of the table and complete mess.

Ibitoye is a naturally gifted talent able to break a game apart. Something we are desperately missing at the moment!!

Which begs the question ... why go in the first place? Sure the money is better, but the team certainly isn’t.

Maybe the quality of life is better.  Not everyone likes living in London.

He's really suited to French rugby, so I can see how it makes sense for him.

I hope it works out for him, as he's a quality player. I'd still take him back if he wanted to move back and was willing to work heard and earn his place in the team. It would be a real shame if he ends up moving between second tier or bottom of the Top 14 clubs, or even Ealing. Someone with that talent should be at a decent club pushing for international honours.

I would be very surprised if he goes to Ealing. They signed Levi Davis and Charlie Walker for the forthcoming (?) season.

I think the link to Ealing is for next season (should they get promoted)  Likewise the link to Care

Davis and Walker signed two year deals last summer. Can't see it happening from our (Ealing) end.

I still think we should off loaded Ashton and kept Gabs. His lack of D and highball could be worked on. You can add skills but not change a personality (Ashton).

Maybe Gabs has ambitions to play for the French national team - if that is the case, then we could never have kept him.

There was no sign that Gabs was working on it, mind.

I'm not sure people are being fair to Ashton here. He's rarely been fit for us, but he's had a superb career at club level and a very successful one. If that's the sign of a bad personality, well...

I understand that we should judge a player on his playing contributions but I just wouldn't be happy if one of my daughters brought him home....

Well quite, he's a back. Gross.

By all accounts he's a very sound bloke off the pitch, and always speaks well. Given the chequered public personas of a number of our high profile players and ex-players, I always find the criticism of his personality to be very strange!
