Interest in our Prem Cup game against Sarries...weird
« on: Thursday 10-Jan-2019, 15:19* »
Browsing matches for a mate who wants to come to a game this season for first time -- why on earth are more seats sold for the pointless cup match against Sarries than some of our Prem fixtures?

What in god's name is the appeal? We're out of it already. No way I'm bothering going to that.

Anyone?

Maybe some people haven't realised the competition, or bought a while ago before we were out of it. Does seem odd though

Hoping for a chance to see some of the younger/squad players get a game??  Cheaper tickets (No idea if they are)??

True. That is odd. I suppose it is the rivalry element that is attractive.

It is a shame a win will not mean much beyond bragging rights.

The game against Wasps in Europe last year didn’t mean anything to us but it was a cracker and well attended.

May well be great but not something you can predict in advance, and doesn’t explain why it’s selling better than the Prem matches!

Sarries have an appeal for neutrals as a big name (some wont know its not a 1st XV game , or that we are dead in the water in the leagues ) , its been sold as a London derby , boys from the city would target it as a good game , easy to get to for a meet up and a few beers , easiest away game for Sarries fans to get to .

Last night I was listening to group  in the bar at my rugby Club planning a day out for the Sarries Cup game or the Bears game in Feb - they chose Sarries because the tickets are half the price apparently

Ill go anyway , its in my ST and see no downside .

Yeah just realised seats where we are at half price normal game (£30 for best seats in the house).

That could be it.

Game is nearly sold out!

My seat will be free - but no, you can't have it.  ;D

Could be that a few are people who went along to BG11 because the tickets were cheap & decided to try another game, saw that the Sarries game was also cheap, and have gone for that, not realising they probably won't see players like Itoje or Farrell (names they'd probably have heard of)

Whatever the reason it’s great to have a big crowd contributing to the Quins finances.
