Irish tried to develop their ground off The Avenue in Sunbury. There was a local campaign “stop the LI traffic”. This would have been for half a day at most on 17/18 days per year. Everybody round the area has ample off street parking as far as I can see so not a local parking problem. They may have been able to do a deal with Kempton Racecourse for parking. So LI sold the land which is now covered in houses contributing extra traffic everyday all year. I think the locals all have a hole in their foot. I often hear about how it used to be much quieter around here. So that’s another reason they had to go to Reading.

The old ground in The Avenue was also, in my opinion, vastly superior.

I used to watch The Wildgeese play mid-week games, Meet up with a couple of mates, sit in the stand, walk down a few steps unto the bar, replenish the glasses, walk back a few steps to my seat in the stand. Perfect! Did I mention that admission was free?

And what do they have now at The Hazlewood? Inferior in every respect!

You did well to sit in that old stand. It must have had the least leg room of any stand I have ever been in!
