Joe Marler - Hero
« on: Wednesday 10-Apr-2019, 15:47* »
Not sure if many of you have seen, Izzy Folau is yet again tweeting & instagramming homophobic messages relating it to religion.

I just wanted to commend Marler for his responses. In typical Marler fashion he has sent Folau numerous pictures of men kissing.

Surely if one of the ‘less big time’ players were tweeting or saying some of the things Folau does, they’d have their contract voided. How does he get away with this?

Beyond brilliant (Joe I mean). I'd ideally have preferred Folau to keep his views to himself but since he's proven that he can't, he can take them with him when, in an ideal world, the governing body bans him from the game. Just can't stand these views. Utterly repugnant.

He gets away with it because Australian Rugby would love to duck the issue completely given it's a RWC year and he's a big star. I'm not sure they can hold that telescope to the blind eye for much longer.

Rugby Australia made a statement saying unacceptable and referred to their integrity unity, let's hope this time there is actually a consequence.

Completely agree. I thought they sat down with him and literally demanded that he keep schtum in future though. Which clearly worked really well...

Have just learned Folau's comments this time fall a year to the day since he was reprimanded. What a gimp.

I started reading Folau's tweet but it just seemed to be religious quoting. Am I missing something? Was there more that I didn't read?

Did you not see the new article it was relating too?
Plus I suggest you look on Instagram, I think then you’ll understand the uproar on the situation

What sorrow for those who say that evil is good and good is evil, that dark is light and light is dark, that bitter is sweet and sweet is bitter.

Well done Joe Marler! Folau clearly doesn’t take Australian Rugby Union previous telling off seriously, a year to the day he previously was warned. Disgusting behaviour, I hope Australian Rugby deals with him appropriately. He knows full well young kids who idolise rugby players will see what he puts on his social media, very foolish of him. What a 🛎 🔚

He was quoting from the Bible...
Why is he not allowed to hold views that are not right on. I happen to disagree with much of the right on ultra PC nonsense that is spouted. It offends me when they post their nonsense.

I have to say I agree.  I do not agree with one word he said but there again he does not have to agree with my views.  Liberals are all very liberal as long as everyone agrees with them and their opinion and world view.  As soon as anyone has a different opinion then liberals say they should not be allowed to express or even think it.  How very liberal of them.

Like you I am equally offended by the PC nonsense and the way everyone is offended by everything and thinks that the only thin g that matters is their own point of view.

Erm. He says gay people are going to burn in hell.

If you think it's just not "right on" to hate people because of where they stick their bits, you probably need to take a breath. Harlequins would also probably rather you changed your mind since they are vocal in their support for Stonewall and the Rainbow Laces charity.

Ultra PC it's not. Attitudes like his contribute to people killing themselves if they struggle with their sexuality.

Reporter for an Australian paper has just tweeted that Folau is being sacked by Rugby Australia as we speak.

It’s all very well calling it “PC Nonsense” but that doesn’t engage with the real issue.  We have a situation where people have been discriminated against, punished, bullied, because of their sexuality.  In some countries it is still a crime.  Try being on the end of some of that and then you’ll see how “PC Nonsense” it is?  As a person of influence he needs to learn to keep his mouth shut with his backwards views and understand the impact these views have on behaviour.  School kids idolise these figures and they should realise how toxic and unhelpful their views are.  Ban him, I say.
