Joker and the Thief
« on: Monday 03-Sep-2018, 10:08* »
Was noticeable by its absence.  New broom etc?  I sort of missed it (and wasn't sold on the electronic farting noises that replaced it).  Anyone have any views or inside info.  Maybe the result of players' poll.  Always wondered what pumps through those headphones.

Much prefer the new music, but then I really like that tune anyway

Joker & The Thief was played a little earlier, around the time the team went back to the dressing room after warming up, followed by London Calling, I think. I've got to say that whenever that comes up on my playlist, I get the "pre-match" buzz, even when I'm sat here in my lab!

J&TT is not that good. Has aged very badly, and it's pretty dull hearing the same song over and over again - same with Kashmir. Good to freshen things up.

What were the new songs that the club played? I could not quite make them out but JATT was noticeble in its absense. Not saying it is a good or bad thing because it is nice to change things up.

I always liked the idea of The Empire March from The Empire Strikes Back as the Quins walk on music but I do not think it will every catch. Maybe for Sale when they walked on we could have used The Jaws theme. When Leicetser visit we could use Eye of the Tiger for them etc etc, give them something unique as a play on their name/nickname. Probably too much effort to make it worth it though!

I like JATT for when the team comes out.  But I assume the club feels time for a refresh.

I recall Tigers use  Smoke on the Water and have done so for several years.

Why don’t they play both but one one match and one the next match

I don’t know, same reason they changed it... bit of variety?.. as you said yourself, bit dull playing the same song again isn’t it?

In the good old days Sale got the theme from Coronation Street and Leicester Tigers would be greeted with Tom Jones "What's new pussycat?"
