I think he managed two red card offences in 30 seconds that day with two high tackles that were dangerous. You can only get sent off the once in a game though. If I remember, the ref was playing advantage but I’ve never seen a player commit two red carders like that.

He got a 6 week ban for his assault on Smith, and Ross Chisolm.

He had already given away a penalty for a high tackle on Sat prior to his red card offence.

Jeez I didn't see (or don't remember) those ones against us, if he's done it again he surely can't claim good behaviour etc as mitigation. He'll get the book thrown at him I'd have thought.

I remember that game & the incidents. What made the Smith one even worse was there seemed to be no contrition immediately afterwards. You can see Eastmond get confrontational with Ward and even having a few verbals with Smith instead of apologising. It does look like he's got a problem & needs a serious length of time out & his coaches to deal with his tackle technique.

Forearm smash into the chin that flattened him - red card all day long , but why didn't Madigan have an HIA ? - isn't the point to protect players from potential concussions.

It's a shame as I think he's a very good player, but he seems a bit of a loose cannon. It's not like he's even got the excuse of having the height of Charlie Matthews and trying to get down low - he's not exactly tall.

Regarding the Quins clip, should I find it amusing that Cips jumped on Mat Luamanu in the melee, and just seemed to hang there?

Barnes checked the doctor said Madigan didn't need an HIA.

I don't really understand why he gets signed by decent teams. He's a liability and really not that good. Murphy trotted out the usual line about "in the environment were in now I guess it's a red" or something similar. I'm not sure he's a thug, just not a particularly great player and evidently not that bright

Yes DOK , I saw that on the highlights last night and it seems surprising to me that Bristol medics didn't give him a full HIA

One of the items on the 'Headcase' course run by the RFU is for the protection of players to prevent them getting two knocks to the head in quick succession as that seems to increase problems exponentially.

I appreciate Barnes has to be guided by medics  , and they are obviously professionals that know best , but it seems at odds to me to say he was walloped hard to the head and a red card was produced , but not hard enough to have the usual 10 min check up .

I think refs are limited in what they can do if the doctor says someone can continue (or can't continue). I saw that and thought it was an HIA all day long. Equally surprised the doctor let it go, but maybe Madigan was clear, concise, on the ball, clearly OK.

4 week ban
Kyle Eastmond of Leicester Tigers appeared before an independent disciplinary panel on Tuesday.

He was charged with a dangerous tackle, contrary to Law 9.13. The incident occurred in the match between Bristol Bears and Leicester Tigers on 1 December when the Tigers' centre tackled Bristol’s Ian Madigan in the 25th minute of the match.

Eastmond plead guilty to the charge and was suspended for four weeks by the independent disciplinary panel comprising of John Brennan (chair), Matt Bayliss and Tony Wheat. He is free to play again on 1 January 2019.

Independent panel chair John Brennan said: "The player accepted the charge and accepted through his representative that the entry point was mid-range due to there being direct contact to the head of the opponent. The panel acknowledged his plea, his remorse for the incident and his apology but could not give the player full mitigation of 50% due to his having been sanctioned for dangerous tackling last season. As such, the entry point was reduced by two weeks rather than three."
