Impossible to say really. Some players look great at age grade level and can’t make the step up to senior rugby.

After a couple of quiet years, it sounds as though we have a good crop of youngsters coming through.

If I had to pick a club who seems to be developing its own players very nicely, it’s hard to look past Sale. Even if you take the Currys as a class apart, they still have a good pipeline of youngsters with Luke James, Postlethwaite, Warr and Reed all featuring last season. Redpath surely would have done too but for injury. When you also consider that a good chunk of their current 23 is homegrown (Harrison, Beaumont, Sam James etc.), they’re clearly getting something right.

How come Rugby Pass knows which Quins guys are moving from the EPDG to the Academy - guesswork, or the club not bothering to spread the news?
