Yeah sadly of little surprise that the people who are most likely to bang on about the “rugby family” are the ones screwing over the fans.

Bugs the hell out of me.

Mind you in also amazed anyone is prepared to pay over the odds for a ticket to anything.

I think the tickets are over priced, even at face value.

Why anyone would pay several hundred pounds for a ticket is beyond me.

There will always be someone greedy enough to try to profit and someone stupid enough to pay.

To be fair I paid several hundreds pounds per ticket several times in the World Cup - and how often do you get to walk from your front door to a seat at a World Cup Final in 10 mins.

But they were all face value.

One does have to wonder where Viagogo gets its tickets from, if it isn't from individuals and clubs.

I can buy tickets from my rugby club, but I think they are too expensive.

I was offered two tickets for the France game earlier this week - at £115.00 each. i didn't pursue the offer.

Based on the rules of price elasticity, they’re probably about right given that most games are 90%+ sold out.

All tickets for the August ' warm up' games were taken from Local Rugby Clubs and just placed on the RFU / Ticketmaster web site for people to buy direct - apparently to give Ticket Officers a break .

The RFU issued a document last month to all Clubs to say they were revisiting the allocations of tickets to Rugby Clubs for next years 6N . They are planning to use a 'new algorithm ' to determine how many each Club would receive . ( currently Level 9 Clubs  get about 40 tickets per game for  most 6N , more for the Italy game )

That probably means only one thing (as the tickets to local clubs give the RFU less revenue than the resale value ) . The RFU will sell less cheaper tickets through the Clubs and sell at the higher prices to allow the Corporate world to spend more in the new East Stand development , or just charge normal punters more .

Given that Prem clubs get approx 200 tickets for the AIs and 6Ns, I'm surprised that clubs at level 9 get that many.  It's no wonder they get passed on to local sponsors who may not have any takers in their staff & so sell them on.

What is level 9?

Can you give an example of a local club at level 9?

Edit

Let google be your friend. Herts/Middlesex 1 according to this:

Teams in Surrey 1 , Kent 1 , Herts/Middx 1 would be Level 9

I also think the allocation might be changed depending how many are taken by the Club . I have always taken my full allocation and so maintained approx. 40 .

Fred , not sure how other Clubs operate , I normally get a list of people wanting tickets ( about 60) for each 6 Nations Home game , names are all put into a hat and drawn , people that tickets for the first game , don't go in the hat for the 2nd and so on  , usually everyone gets tickets for at least one game .

According to Guardian Roslyn Park’s sponsors sold their tickets.  2 years ago I returned my tickets to my rugby club as I was unable to use tickets I had got in draw and was thanked as though it was unusual. It entirely depends what part of the country you are in as to who how many tickets clubs apply for. Sadly it is more and more part of the sponsors deals to give them the best tickets.

RFU monitor resales quite carefully and check resale sites daily and track them back  to the originator A couple of seasons ago someone from my Club put a photo of their ticket on Facebook to say they were pleased to be going and someone tried to sell it on Stub Hub just using the details from the photo .

I'm sure the club allocation used to be related to the number of teams/players so Prem teams would get fewer tickets than larger local clubs who may run 7 senior and a few junior teams, for instance.
