Some properly bizzare selections there!! I still don't know what he sees in Shields..
Let alone the 4 already mentioned by most. When was the last time Watson played hasn't he been injured all season? Not that he's a full back anyway.... Daly as the only 15 with Watson and Nowell covering makes me nervous....

Gutted for Robshaw and also MB and DC. Huge disappointment just a year or two too late for them

Previous squads for 6N under EJ have had a high attrition rate , so would expect similar with this , those that have been sent back should keep their engines running .

Brown must be gutted, end of his international career, no World cups!!

Err he played in 2015! Pretty sure he was the first player to score a try in the tournament. England’s first try v Fiji was a penalty try.

The players left out will, I think, have a huge point to prove. The biggest mistake I think is to leave out Robshaw. People underestimate just what he brings to every team that he plays in.

Prove how? Brown, Care, Robshaw aren’t going to play for England again if they aren’t on this squad. Get what you mean I guess but they won’t have an opportunity.

I've been criticised for a while on this board for saying Brown's England career is over and EJ should have been more honest about that and allowed him a dignified retirement, only to be accused of being 'dumb' by certain posters. I don't begin to know how he copes with the hope followed by disappointment of the last few call ups. Simply don't understand Ludlam over Dombrandt at the moment - if you're going to pick a form 'bolter', Dombrandt has to be the one. EJ really doesn't seem to favour the Quins players other than props.

Yeah there have been endless people telling me as well that “brown’s career isn’t over”, “Jones is experimenting to find his back up” etc etc

They are all absent or very quiet since we’ve reluctantly been proved right.

Well done Blucher. You were right, and we were wrong. But that’s not the important question any more. The important question is: “Is Eddie right?”

It’s downright bizarre to discard 320 caps’ worth of experience mid way through an RWC season when the players in question are still in good form. One of them is the only experienced player in his position. Two of them have only one experienced peer in positions that are frequently substituted.

Hartley I can understand, because his knee means he’s short of fitness. Robshaw has a lot of competition (and Wilson has definitely earned a place, though I am still at a loss as to what Shields brings). Care and Eddie reportedly had a falling out - but he hasn’t given any of the possible alternatives enough game time to settle in at International level. And while I can see the case for Daly at fullback in an expansive game, against any opponent that sticks to its game plan and has a good kick chase, England now have no international fullback whose been proven in those situations, and one who has been found wanting several times.

I’ve been pretty good at guessing what Eddie is trying to do over the past four years, but this time I don’t get it.

Agreed poorfour. Brown and DC make less sense than Robshaw in some ways. It's all bizarre though.

When the final, final, final World Cup squad which is the one that’s going to Japan is announced we will all know the actual players that Eddie has picked. There are so many in and out that it’s hard to know exactly what EJ is doing. Almost anybody could be called up at the moment.
