Sky news .. he has retired from international.. Toulon must beckon

The Beeb (BBC) quotes Marler saying he wishes to enjoy many more years at Harlequins, so hopefully that’s what it says on the tin 🥫

I would be very surprised if Joe ends up being a one club man, the money that will be offered will be huge.  Also the lure of a good family setup at some of the French clubs will also help.

The pay will allow him to set him and his family for life.  I hope it is not for a few years but i think it will come

I’d probably say the opposite to be honest. Joe seems to be a guy who loves his home, indeed he still lives down near Eastbourne I believe when most would live closer. I can’t see him uprooting his family and moving them or indeed commuting to another club.

I remember when we played Stade. When he arrived in France he tweeted something like - "welcome to France - it's s..t"

We  don't know (and have no right to know) the reasons behind this.  As said above, I hope he and his family are all ok and hope that he looks back on this decision with no regrets.

If he decides that going to play in France is the right thing, I will wish him the very best.

Well no, no one has any “right” to do anything because thankfully our democracy is too mature for that kind of half baked nonsense.

But we can wonder, speculate, make stuff up, not think it’s that important.

We don’t “have the right to know” - honestly?

He either genuinely misses his kids or it’s something else and that’s a cover story.

Either way we’d all love to know - but probably won’t for a bit.

Come on - he’s a bloke that plays rugby - not a freaking secret agent.

I'm happy with his statement he feels he's no longer putting 100% into playing for England.
As such, he feels a bit fraudulent playing and therefore stepped down.
The honourable thing to do.
