My biggest moan is the lack of consistency with refereeing, if the Manu tackle is a red the Parkes tackle is also a red.

Seemed to be plenty of mitigating circumstances to downgrade from a red, a yellow would have been more suitable I think. I didn’t see what Genge was actually done for, can anyone tell me?

Clear red for manu. No arms, shoulder to head, reckless. North may have been going down but so was Manu. It was just a flying charge not a tackle

Be really irritating if we lose Joe now for that. Such an odd thing to do anyway
I have to say, a bit like Eddie, I’m not sure what else he could do at that speed and height.  His arms were forward and I suspect he would have wrapped if the Welsh guy had not beeen so low.  I get ultimately you are responsible for the outcomes, but given the stage the game was at, would we have expected / preferred him to just wave him through, with a ‘there’s nothing I can safely do’?

Don’t we want the rules applied with a sensitivity to the context ?

The idea that Marler could be out for 12wks for what was just a bit of wind up ( especially as it appears AWJ had been systematically winding up Sinkler in the 2nd half last time they met with no one stopping him)

I think refs do have a tough job, and didn’t spot much yesterday’s one got wrong, it does seem a bit of a post code lottery what any one will decide

I do not believe any action will be taken against Joe mainly because of insufficient evidence and what there is won't stand up.

The way that Sir played advantage for knock ons was unusual.

He missed an obvious forward pass, but I can understand that as he was not in line.

I thought that he missed a badly scew line out.

His knock on advantages were more like penalty advantages, but only for Wales.
I also agree about the Parks tackle on Manu, if Manu's tackle on North was red so was Parkes on Manu....

If they are mates/know each other, and its a bit of a wind up, why not. As long as they dont shake hands

12 weeks for tickling someones balls, give me strength

Simple one for citing committee . Won’t see him until next season now ... idiot
World Rugby law 9.27 says “A player must not do anything that is against the spirit of good sportsmanship including but not limited to grabbing, twisting or squeezing the genitals”. If action is taken and Marler is found guilty the offence has a low end punishment of 12 weeks to a maximum penalty of 208 weeks.

You omit the fact that they can also reduce sentences for what they believe to be me mitigation. You also forget that he hasn't been charged, let alone found guilty. You further forget that you're not actually the arbiter of anything in this matter.

12 weeks means we’ll lose Joe for the remainder of the season.

To be fair, by the letter of the law Marler can have no complaints if he cops a ban for this. It may have been intended as a bit of tomfoolery  but it’s against the rules.

I think it’s necessary to maintain a ‘rugby perspective’ here and not over react. But he did something against the rules to get one over his opponent and if he’s duly punished I won’t be surprised. Hopefully I’m wrong and he gets away with it, otherwise it’s a big loss for Quins.

I would say - if punished I fully expect it to be at the entry point. Hopefully Marler has the sense to apologise and hold his hands up in that event, and it may get reduced slightly. By my reckoning, 12 weeks would see him banned until the last game of the season, against Tigers.

Edit: Just seen that others have said he will be out for the whole season. I’m not sure and happy to stand corrected if that’s the case. Not good either way!

For clarity, Bampotbill has added in the second half of the quote of the laws. When you download the official World Rugby Law book (available HERE) you can see that law 9.27 in its entirety is
Quote from: Law 9.27
A player must not do anything that is against the spirit of good sportsmanship.

You have made a clear attempt both here and on another thread to push this agenda, bampotbill. I call on you to withdraw the postings and apologize.

Fred, to be fair it does say it here:

https://www.world.rugby/handbook/regulations/reg-17/appendix-1?lang=en

I’m not sure why they are different, but I don’t think Bampot is deliberately misleading people.
