You keep saying that no one knows.

Which must be inaccurate. The club knows and I think the player must know.

Someone knows.

...or do they?

Yeah but if you know stuff and have a life you aren't posting on here.

To be fair, I’d forgotten about the Cat

I know Horwill was when he first joined, that may have changed over time with new deals.  If he joins, I would expect Snyman to be on a decent wedge

You knew Horwill wouldn't play again. :)

Exactly.

I am enjoying people making total guesses and stating them as fact on this thread continually though.....

Is anyone stating fact, or just having a good old guess??  I know Horwill was when he first signed. No idea about now

The funny thing is, when you actually go through Saracens' squad, there are only a handful of potential marquee players. Itoje, the Vunipolas, Farrell, Liam Williams (although I wouldn't pay Williams anything to be anywhere near a squad I was in charge of - personally think he's vastly overrated). So could be any of those 5. After those guys you're looking at the Jamie Georges, George Kruises, Sean Maitlands - steady internationals but not anywhere near those other guys and definitely not marquee player status.

I'd guess Farrell and Itoje.

I thought that pluralising people had stopped now. The only player who can be pluralised is the Robshaws.

The Idea of the cat being one of our marquee players annoys me. It has nothing to do with his horrible injury, just a really underwhelming signing in the first place.

Roberts was one wasn't he? So who replaced him as a big name?

Do we have to nominate a marquee for their whole contract or a season at a time?

Sorry don’t believe Jamie Roberts was one. That was a deal neteeen JA,ie and Cos that suited both. I am not even sure he was on a huge wedge he wanted to go and play for Cambridge in the Varsity Cupand do a particular course and we were convenient. Not sure he really put himself out for us except for the odd match usually when tv cameras were on.

The accountants / auditors / lawyers that are wading through the Salary Cap porridge will be the ones that decide - its not based on rugby ability is it ? - its a money thing , they just have to nominate two to stand outside the calculations .

I'm sure as new contracts are negotiated then the nominated could change .

I was under the impression that Marquee players  had to be new to the Premiership / club?

"plus two Excluded Players whose salaries sit outside the cap, enabling clubs to recruit and retain world class talent "

no wonder Clubs have lawyers and accountants all over this and still trip up ....
