I wasn’t warming to anything on Saturday but least of all some of Martin Landajo’s decision making. Interested in other people’s thoughts on our number 9.
Cheers

Before yesterday I've been impressed with what I've seen. Yesterday his box kicking was poor and he was so slow getting the ball away from the breakdown. Especially when we were pressing

I can’t quite remember but maybe we were 14-3 up, maybe we won a lineout from penalty, but anyway we were in great position, passing options, about 10m out, and he kicked it to nowhere and nobody and the ball went dead. It was right in front of us and everyone around looked at each other and said WTF?

Yes, what was that? Can only think he thought a pen was coming.
His lack of game control and dreadful box kicking probably biggest (not only) reason we lost that game. We just couldn’t get territory as a result.

The kicking was awful, and as has been said elsewhere no one chased the ball, they looked like they couldn’t be arsed or weren’t fit enough. But why keep kicking it? Especially when the only bright moment was from a great pass and running line.

He had a poor game, along with many others. I think they will be a rarity.

I’ve found his kicking poor generally. He struggles with finding touch let alone the pitch before touch. Box kicking basically gives possession away. His decision making seems frantic and rushed.
I understand the rationale behind kicking away but trading territory for possession must be worth it. It’s just as exhausting defending the territory gained as chasing free-flowing rugby.

I haven't been impressed and he certainly doesn't look like an 80 cap player. He skies half his box kicks, looks a bit laboured at the breakdown and doesn't seem to be any threat with ball in hand.

Offered reasonable contract and money, seeing out his career, no edge to his play, predictable at breakdown...passing average..

Probably very good in training, and can talk a great game!!!,

I think he needs to be a bit more patient.  A few times this season he has gone for the "glory" play.  Resulted in a try against Bristol but has also cost us good position in games (Saints springs to mind, as does the kick mentioned above at the weekend). We start to build a few phases, get position and he tries to force it.  Time and a place.

That odd kick dead when attacking the north end about 15m out - he must have thought we had advantage coming. If not then inexplicable.

When we were pressing in the second half, whenever we had two or three good carries and offloads in succession, we made good ground. He then took so long at the breakdown that the defence lined up and all momentum was lost. I hate it when an attack has got some momentum then the 9 takes ages ushering his forwards to whichever side he wants them on. If they're not there then just pass to where they are as otherwise the defence can just line up, then we're stuck with slow pick and go, which we've always been really poor at for some reason

Not sure who was worse on Saturday  Landajo or  Chisholm at Full Back.  It was a shame we didn't pitch for Joe Simpson last season when he announced he was leaving Wasps.

Depended on who was doing the kicking - while Landejo's kicking was random in it's direction (and poorly followed up as a result of the unknown trajectory), that of other kickers was chased up well and resulted in quite a few turnovers and enforced/unenforced errors by the Worcester chaps. Too much slow ball delivered by Landejo due to our slow/incomplete ruck clear out.

Whilst on the kicking theme, why did Smith/skipper chose to kick (well, miss) penalty what was apparently beyond his range in awful conditions and not kick to the corner for the penalty in the first half? We had some form of advantage at that point and another try then would probably have sealed the game. Pivotal moment, in my view.

I thought Chisholm was actually pretty decent at 15 until the last 20 or so when he caught kick it away fever and just aimlessly hoofed away everything he caught. Not the only one though.
