Match Day Changes
« on: Wednesday 22-Aug-2018, 15:12* »
On the Offy

Big things are all food & drink will be cashless, bars closing 10mins before kickoff, & Stewards managing people returning to the stands in North & South stands during play...

Personally I'm okay with going cashless in the bars & food, as it means I don't have to remember to get cash out before leaving home. I'm pretty much cashless for everything else nowadays, so if it's been shown to speed things up, I'm all for it.

The bars closing 10 mins before kickoff is probably a good idea, as it'll cut down on the people who get to their seats after the game has started. Just have to remember to queue a little earlier for the beer if you want to take one to your seat, I guess.

As I'm in the East stand, I'm unaffected by the change in when people are allowed back into the stand during play. Any thoughts from those in the North or South Stands?

Actually that's not what it says - the policy is that queues will close 10 mins before kick-off, which is fair as long as the speed of service in the Kings Bar is improved from the end of last season!

The only issue i can see with the cashless system is that we seem to invite a lot of young rugby clubs and schools every week, how are they gonna pay for things?

and im in the south stand, not being let in until a break in play is the best thing i've heard all summer. Normally spend about ten minutes each match trying to see past people that just wander around during the game.

You are, of course, correct. Plus it's only for the Kings and Honours(Members as was) bars. The Quins Head & outside bars will still be as before.

Waiting for a break in play is a good thing, something that I do anyway much to the confusion of some of the stewards.

I've had similar problems. When I've been to the bar in the corner, I don't want to go back to my seat until the play has stopped. So I stand to the side out of the way of anyones view and they tell me I can't stand there and need to either move further back or go to my seat.

All fine with me. Appreciate the difficulties for kids paying for things but overall I think the change will be for the better and queues should speed up as a result.

The big question is.. "Hopefully the stewards are interested in Rugby, and laws, but how long is a break in play?"

Personally not affected, but many will be, I'd prefer a random few moving around coming & going, rather than a group let loose!

Cashless, good, as long as everybody is aware prior to entering the ground. Those that arrive with just cash in pocket aren't able to purchase anything, does this include the shops?? Sths  aware, but what about the occasionals? Needs to be clear on printed tickets!

Bars and queues, ok, but at ko there's still going to be those buying drinks when the serving recommences, and then going to their seats.....

Love it. Tired of slagging off the management and players... let’s pick on the stewards.

Let's give it all a chance and see what transpires. The club is at least trying, they're listening to our gripes and trying to address them/ You can't ask for much more than that. The issue with people moving from their seats and the time it takes to get served at the bar are two there are complaints about every season.

Now if they could just stop the huge number of players, subs, officials, medics, water boys, people on bicycles and whoever from absolutely blocking the view of the North stand if you're positioned low in the West.... I'd be most happy.

Hope they've got plenty of card readers.
Not sure putting in reader then putting in your pin is going to be much quicker then playing cash.
Granted most will probably have contactless but there may be times when someone may not have enough funds to pay for there order.
I won't be bringing my cards, would be easy to loose then anyone could use it. I don't know how you could proove to your bank it wasn't you that used it!

Thing is, most folks now have contactless, and there's rarely a transaction at the Stoop in the food & drink outlets that is going to be above £30 (even with London prices!).

So much for sending the kids off to get their own food.

Happy with cash free payments, but what happens when the machines go down? Will they get word out to the supporters asap? Get someone down to the station to tell people to get cash out, get it on social media, etc.

Of course it would vastly speed up the bar transactions if they replaced the gormless zombies with some vaguely competent staff. Obviously fanciful but one can dream.

Other changes seem sensible. Hope common sense will be exercised about entry at breaks in play only. I like it though.

Well done to the club for listening
