I don't know why they announced that crowd number, looked like about 13k.

FULL TIME

Quins lose, oh hang on, Quins win 20-7

Why are they playing "Put your hands on" by Reef at the end of the match?

COME ON ENGLAND

They've played that for years.

Fantastic tackle by Marler at the end to put the Newcastle Falcons winger into touch. Absolutely clattered him! Such a great tackle and I’m certain if Marler hadn’t have got there Newcy’ would have been quids in for a try there.

Would have been even better if he had actually used his arms, thought Doyle was going to take a look at it.

Good win, a bit aimless in attack at times but good defence. Sinoti kept under control although Graham was a real. pest in attack, but we stuck at it. We would have lost that one last season. Good night overall for, us Quins.

Respectable win in the end. Shame not to get the 4th try. I do think Lang is sometimes a better option than Smith.
We seemed to spend a lot of tonight going side to side passing to static players again.

It would have been nice to have scored even the third try first.

Very constipated in the first half, then opened up in the second (the game, not me.....although....)

I was impressed by the zip in the passing. There was a lot of 'side to side', yes, but the boys were trying to work a gap. Newcastle were not at their best in attack but were really tight in defence.

As stated above, we would have lost that last year. Indeed, we lost a similarly tight game against them two weeks ago! A win feels great. The next two weeks present really tough tests; fixtures that were heavy defeats last year. This year I feel much more confident.

Smith was good today, as were Symons, Earle, Marchant and Brown. Dombrandt was excellent (over and above his try) as were Mulchrone, Marler and Crumpton. This was never going to be easy but the mentality was excellent.

Quite optimistic about the short and long term future.

He did use his arms, however as he was chasing I believe the Newcy’ Winger was such a light weight compared to Marler he went flying before the arms fully wrapped. Was great to watch and the team were buzzing from it

9,000 odd, wasn't it? Looked nothing like 13,00 to me. Huge gaps in the South.

Newcastle were poor, no doubt, but it was interesting to see how the lineout quality improved once Crumpton came on (personally I thought Gustard had just hooked Ella because his throwing was so poor, but I may be wrong). While I also accept that Gary "which nationality am I ?" Graham was a bit of a nuisance at the breakdown, I thought James Chisholm was doing a pretty good job of showing him how to do this while he was on the pitch and there were some good turnovers won by us throughout the game, ( more than we've had for a while I thought - would be interesting to see the stats)

North was full, east and west were virtually full, and the south looked about half full. There is no way there were 5000+ empty seats!

I disagree, sir.

I think the South was well under half full. In my considered opinion 9,000 was about right.

Why would Quins say otherwise?

Good game overall. Few things to work on and a few to commend but in general, a pleasing night for us Quins!

Special shoutout to Crumpton. I felt Gustard a decision to put him on early was wise, line out dramatically improved and he seems strong around the field too. He’s now a solid 1st choice for that position in my eyes

Marchant, Dombrandt & Marler were all great aswell.
Let’s see how we hold up against tougher opposition the next two weeks

I think the most pleasing thing was the collective defensive mindset  - Falcons has some big names missing but still ran hard into contact , and to keep any Prem side from scoring points for 3/4 of a game takes some doing . - Doubt we would have done that last season

Credit to coaches to swapping Elia after 30mins ( not often seen ) , but he was having a poor game .

Saili was certainly a ' game changer' as we looked better going forward when he came on , good all round performances but a special mention
to Joe Marchant who moved to the right wing to accommodate changes butproceeded to wrap up Sinnoti every time he had the ball .

PS - They forgot to tell Mike Brown he wasn't 15 - I expect he just sat at his normal peg and pulled rank !... good shift by him as always .
