Saili might as well go he's hardly played, as good as he has been when fit he's too injury prone it seems to me. This guy looks like a fantastic signing 👍

Esterhuizen is a good signing if this comes to pass. Proper go forward in the backs and an ability to make space for others.

Tapuai is a good premiership squad player and one to keep. Loathed to let too many centres go anywhere. Think we need about 8!

Really good signing and, as others have said, its potentially a great combo with Marchant.

Of course there will be departures as suggested but this is good work by those involved - credit where its due.

Love this signing if true. I actually would like to keep Lasike - he's a gamebreaker. I do think, these days, that you need as many big, crash ball centres in your squad as you can get. Lang offers a different kind of option at 12 if you want more of a distributing 12 - and he can play 13. I'd let Saili and Taps go. As good as Taps has been, he must be on a higher salary than Lasike, surely? Free up that cash! Saili has been a frustrating signing - great on paper, but never got a run of games to prove his class.

Yeah I hope we keep Lasike. He's improved a lot and has been pretty valuable in the games he's played this season.

I'd like to keep Tapuai. Another signing, like Symonds, I wasn't that fussed about but who I think has proved to be a good bit of business. One of our more reliable players.

Happy to keep Lasike at the right price. He offers something different to the others, though apparently this new guy would offer the same thing.

It's a shame for Saili that he's been injured so much, though much like Crumpton he did have a history of being injury prone when we signed him, but we really haven't seen enough of him to keep him on in my opinion, especially given that his salary is probably pretty high. Even when fit he was being kept out by Tapuai and Marchant, and we rarely have an out and out centre on the bench, so he wasn't involved at all a lot of the time

To be fair, it's rare that any team puts a straight out & out centre on the bench unless they already have a "utility" back starting. In your normal "5-3 split" bench, the 3 backs will have to cover a potential 7 positions. It's the norm to have a specialist SH and a specialist FH on the bench to cover injury in those key positions. That leaves 1 back to cover IC, OC, W and FB. Common practice is to have your straight centres on the pitch to start with, then if/when you make a chance in the back line, you will see the back on the bench who can play a number of positions to slot in and the rest of the backline shuffle around to match.

Where the player from the bench ends up playing (as well as any other changes like the OC moving to IC, Wing to FB, etc) is dependent on the player coming off and who is best placed to fill their spot from who's still on the pitch...

For this reason, I like to see Lang on the bench.  i.e. A centre who can cover FH.
I always think that a team needs a few utility players.
I personally like Chis Snr.  I think that most on here will agree that he is not the best wing or the best fullback.  But, he is adequate at playing in these two positions and can also play fly half in an emergency.  I think he also covered centre once in a game a few years ago and scored a nice try.  Therefore, a good option for the bench.

Lang is a great player. I would have him on the bench. However, the way that Herron is playing at the moment, I can see him becoming a good option at 10 and needs to be at least on the bench or challenging Marcus Smith.

Just think of the space he’ll create for Marchant!!

Just think of the space he'll take up in the changing room...

I admire the loyalty of fans who've seen Ross Chisholm in the last couple of years (and the last few matches...) and think he's adequate... :(

I think he's a liability, sorry. But I shan't harp on about it (until next time) :)

Dibden: Totally fair to ask that question IMO. We've seen very little benefit from this "partnership".

We did have one briefly before he went back to the Blues, I believe he was a flyhalf.
