Next re-signing... James Lang

JAMES LANG AMBITIOUS FOR THE FUTURE AS HE SIGNS NEW CONTRACT WITH HARLEQUINS

Scotland international James Lang has re-signed for Harlequins, the Club is delighted to announce.

Lang, 23, who is comfortable at Centre or Fly-half, with most of his appearances coming at Fly-half this season, made his debut for the Club in 2016 and has since gone on to appear 39 times for Harlequins, scoring 133 points.

He was the Club's second highest points scorer last season after which he earned his first call-up to Gregor Townsend’s Scotland squad for their tour of North America.

One of the most exciting young players in the senior squad with his range of pass, long range kicking and deceptive step, Lang has helped the squad rise to third in the Gallagher Premiership and reach the Challenge Cup quarter-finals already this season and Head of Rugby Paul Gustard said there is even more to come from the back.

“James has been great for us this season, whether he has started or been a Game Changer he has consistently managed to show his strengths with ball in hand and has impressed us with his kicking game.

“He is an exciting talent who brings a lot of energy and (Ric) Flair to the group and we are all looking forward to working with him as we go in search of honours.

“He is a young man who has a lot of ability and I am sure with purposeful dedication to develop his talent he can go on to be a big player for us and also for Scotland.

“He is a great lad with a cracking personality and perhaps the only member in the squad who can sing as many songs from musicals as Joe Marchant.”

Lang said: “We are building a winning ethos at Harlequins and I am really proud to be a part of that.  The Club’s heritage has always been about playing fast, exciting rugby and always with that sense of adventure.

“Gussy has arrived at the Club this season and brought with him a work ethic and a sense of fun which we know is going to reap rewards very soon in the form of trophies. It is an exciting time and I am thrilled to be a part of it.”

Another one I'm happy to see. He could easily have opted to head back above the border. Good work Millard and gang.

Very happy about this, makes an impact starting or from the bench, and imho, will only get better.

Good, I'm glad we haven't lost him to Scotland. I'm very happy for him to stay, he and Smith are a good combination, in terms of complimenting each other's skill sets. Nice options to have.

Hadn’t realised he had actually played in Scotland

More good news. Happy with all the re-signings so far. Him and Smith could be great for us over the next 5-10 years.

I particularly like to reference to Ric Flair

Yes I've heard they've said very nice things about each other's kicking game ;)
