I'd love a "no sponsor" option but imagine that when a sponsorship deal is agreed, if the club pushed for this then the sponsor would pay less money, as less exposure. Can't see quins being in a position to turn down the extra cash

Brighton have no sponsor any more. Meant to be Paddy power tho.so I'd say that's why

Paddy Power are sponsoring a number of football teams this year with 'no logo' deal. It's a kind of no advertising kind of advertising. There's a few others around. Oasis advertise on the radio that they'll stop advertising if you drink enough. There's also the Heineken advert with Nico Rosberg where he turns down the beer. A new voque and I suspect it will pass. Though I do like the idea of a Jersey without a logo on it.

Sponsors on shirts don't bother me as long as they fit the look of the shirt overall. Ultimately, I want Quins to be successful so I accept that company on shirt = money to bring in quality players, build 21st century stadium facilities, etc = success (hopefully). I'd even go as far as saying that I like seeing a big name sponsor on our shirt - feels like the more known our main sponsor is, the more likely we are to be mixing it with the big boys. Compare DHL to some of Falcons' recent sponsors (and the period during which they couldn't even secure one) and there does appear to be some correlation. Success off the field = success on it.

However, I wouldn't want to see us go down the same road that a lot of French clubs and the likes of Scarlets have done where they wallpaper their shirts with multiple sponsors to the point where you might as well not have a shirt design in the first place. Thankfully we haven't seen Quins going anywhere near that.

Yeah anyone with a betting company has an issue.

And the “no advert” thing is the single most annoying bullshit advertising trend. So lame and thankfully already past its peak.

It was the main reason for buying a retro shirt (almost) no advertising.

I'm just glad I managed to pick up 2 of the long-sleeved 150th anniversary shirt. It's a thing of beauty!

I liked the short sleeve cotton one from last year with the retro HFC logo on the right

I’m not keen on advertising on my shirts as I may not like the company, especially if it’s a betting one, but there is often no choice. Or rather it’s buy it or don’t. I’ve never understood why people pay so much for average quality clothes with a massive logo on. You’re paying through the nose and advertising for free for that particular brand. We are all marketing puppets to some extent but  many are the full Pinocchio.
I like the fact that the World Cup shirts are not allowed any sponsors logo. I’m hoping that England win it as it’s an excuse to get a new one. My last one is old enough to vote.

Aren’t they a bit of both? Appreciate they are a supplier but aren’t they also sponsoring through the supply of Kit?

Sure. Not really relevant to the point though is it. The World Cup shirts are “sponsor” free but you’re advertising Canterbury wherever you go. So it’s the same effect.
