Not part of the script

Wins for Bristol and Worcester this weekend, throws the table wide open, this could be a very interesting season as well as a very nervous one for many clubs.

Yep 6th in the table fire 4 rounds, our best result against bottom of the table
Thankfully we got LBPs and that along with defence seems to be two areas of improvement
Not looking forward to Kingsholm next Saturday , but Sarries at home looks like it will be painful

The average points total for the bottom team (not including the freak London Welsh 1 point season) for the last 10 years is 22-23 points. Could well be a lot more than that this season so yeah a nervous one for many clubs.

We hold the record for highest points total for a relegated team, which is why I set the roadmap target for 11th at 38 every year.

Looks like a very open lower two thirds of the table, with lots of clubs scrabbling for form. I'm disappointed that Quins haven't managed a second win in the last three games - all of which look to have been winnable - but the fact that we are collecting BPs is cause for encouragement. Our first season back up, IIRC, began with a string of something like 8 LBP, and built into a season that saw us get Champions Cup rugby and finish second in the table the following year. There's a similar vibe to this season: not the start we wanted, but there's a grit that's been lacking for a while.

Very well put. Too many people are leaping off a cliff, four games in. Then yesterday we saw a result that I dare say none of us expected. It's not the first, it won't be the last. We may lose the next six, we may win the next six; I think it will be somewhere in between. It's a long season, and if you look at how we were decimated with injuries and call ups last season, you will see how squads may not be performing consistently through the season.

We really oight to have won at least one more game, and many of the old problems are still there, notably discipline and dreadful kicking, but on the other hand, I think there are clear areas of improvement. I also don't think international call ups will hurt us so much this year, paqrtly because our international players' form hasn't been so great that their replacements would represent a clear drop off in quality.

Gloucester away will be hard, but I don't think they're the amazing team many are making them out to be, and I'm not just saying that based on their heavy loss to Sarries. Sarries at home I can't see us getting much more than a LBP out of, but then again I've thought that the last few seasons

Gloucs looked a different level against Bath, and then completely lost the plot and looked awful.  Good team but no where near Sarries or Exeter yet.  Keep DC quiet and they look even less dangerous

Discipline is costing us dear. I read we have conceded the most penalties for a Premiership team  so far this season.

I take your point, but I don't believe that any team "should" win any game. Yesterday being a good example.

International call ups will be interesting. If PG's rotation system works, we will have players who are match fit and who know the systems, ready to step in. If our guys aren't called up, then other teams will feel the loss more than us.

On paper I would have expected more than one win from the first 4. Saying that there have been positives to take from the defeats (and negatives of course) but I think there is enough there to show we are not a million miles away, not there yet but certainly not as far away as we have been in recent times.  An improvement on last season. Sort the discipline and I think we would have won more than one game so far.  Its not our only issue but its the biggest one for me in terms of what is stopping us winnings games.  Avoid the yellows and not give away the stupid pens (that cost points) and saturday might have been a different story.
