O/T Bastareud gets only 5 weeks...

... for this swinging arm on an opponent lying on the floor. I know we complain about English disciplinary rulings, but this is frankly ridiculous. If he weren't a part of the French team, he would be seeing 10-12 weeks minimum. Here's a video of the offence:

That's a ridiculous cheap shot even for a berk like him! Exceedingly lenient sentence too, as you say if he wasn't in the French team....

Sadly I suspected he would get let off lightly. French not wishing to darken their team for the Autumn Internationals. I wonder if world rugby may intervene.

He'd get substantially more anywhere else apart from possibly NZ. WHat he did was thuggery - plain and simple. Ridiculous but sadly not an unpredictable outcome given the FFR disciplinary panel previous.
