Leiua cited

https://www.premiershiprugby.com/2018-2019/alapati-leiua-to-appear-before-rfu-disciplinary-panel/

"Leiua was cited by independent citing commissioner Paul Burke following the match Harlequins v Bristol Bears on Saturday 16 February 2019. This was for allegedly striking Harlequins’ Marcus Smith with the arm contrary to Law 9.12. The incident occurred in the first half of the match.

The hearing will take place in Bristol on Wednesday 27 February 2019 at 18:30. The panel will be chaired by Gareth Graham with John Doubleday and a further panel member to be confirmed."

I assume that this was for the incident where he raised his arm as he ran into the tackle, similar to Bothma's recent incident.

There was a bit when they scored their 2nd try where I saw Smith talking to the ref. May have been an incident around about that time

Happened right in front of me. Leiua was running with the ball and shoved a straight forearm right into Marcus' face. Ref saw it and waved it on - which, to us in the East stand, was completely unacceptable. Think we scored a try from one of the ensuing plays though - I remember thinking justice had been at least partially served and citing would pick up the rest of the tab...

I wondered about that at the time. Bothma - straight red card. Leiua - not even checked.

I think it's disgraceful that an opposition player can be cited before being roundly castigated on here for heinous, deliberate, violent conduct.

I mean, seriously, did no-one watch the game?

Leiua wasn't wearing a ruddy great arm guard with "Smash" written on it...

Perhaps Renaldo should have "CUDDLE" on his arm guard? Then he wouldn't get cited... Or maybe "TICKLE"?

From my view near the half way in the DHL it looked like as he was tackled he swung and arm around into the back of Smith's head, I was surprised it wasn't reviewed by the TMO at the time.

You can see it on the full match video (now up on the Premiership Site). Skip through to around 21mins on the Match clock, or 29 mins on the media player navigation bar. Smith grubber kicks through & Leiua runs it back. It's low quality video, but it does look to me that Leiua deliberately raises his arm and strikes with the forearm towards Smiths head...

That looks more deliberate than Cuddle's effort from the other week.

We laughed at the time it was more like a punch on the chin than a hand off .. but just presumed it was less of a problem than it first looked , we are high in the West stand so quite a distance away
Im not in favour of retrospective citings ( unless its something serious)  but it wasn't seen at the time and Smith looked more surprised than injured ..something and nothing for me , just an incident of high speed running rugby..... but rools is rools !
