I hazard to guess that we're not the intended audience.

Ryan has likened RugbyX to Twenty20 cricket. Those who love test cricket (or 15-a-side rugby) will still have a sport but an abbreviated more razzmatazz version could attract new fans who may move on to the more complicated game.

In the context of RugbyX, the more complicated game is Sevens.

Prices slightly go against the PR blurb that it's all game for all to enjoy. I'm just a lad from Brentford done good, etc.

I was actually planning to go assuming it'd be £40 or something but that's just silly. It may do very well and good luck to them but I think it's slightly taking the mick to charge that much

In the context of RugbyX, the more complicated game is Sevens.

Sure I heard Ryan describing it as:

RugbyX = Twenty20
Sevens = 50-over
15s = 5-day games

Not least as there are specialist players who will play both abbreviated forms but not the full version

Or 15s is 50 over, 7s T20 and rugbyx is the new 100 ball thing.

Yeah, there's no form of rugby anywhere near as boring as a 5-day test! :P

I know you aren't alone in thinking that; possibly in the majority. But I love cricket and enjoy test matches. However, I also enjoy 50 and 20 over cricket. Don't see the point of the 100 ball thing, but I've never seen it (has it been played yet?).

I only enjoy rugby 15s though. 7s is ok, if you're bored or drunk but I don't go to it anymore and hardly ever watch it on TV. Xs sounds even worse to me.

I think the difference between the long and shorter forms of rugby are more significant than in cricket.

You clearly didn’t watch Sale’s 7-all “thriller” with Bath 😬

Nor our 6-3 demolition of ... Bath

So the law of averages would seem to suggest that if you want a dire game of rugby, watch Bath.
