On anonther board we are discussing who first it that called Orrell "a lay by on the M6" - we believe it goes back to 1973/4 Cup match.

Probably a John Player Cup game in the early 70's..

It's referenced in Nick Cross's Harlequins: The First 150 Years - the first reference he mentions is by a committee member in 1974, and it was indeed in relation to a Cup Tie.

It's still funny.....Brian Moore mentions it in his memoirs I recall.
