Sorry for OT. Went to the rifleman just now to watch Bris match and pub closed with no notices on doors. Anyone know what’s going on?

I hope not. Enjoy going there after games. Haven't been so much this season. Hasn't seemed quite the same since the new owners arrived. I'm sure we'll have some regulars on here who'll know what's going on. Hopefully a one-off blip.

The older manager did a bunk with 18K of the money and the bailiffs turned up the other week.
Poor lassie (Maggie?) that took it over after the previous  was terrorized, so she has shut the door.
I was there on Wednesday and she was really sad and shook up. Bless her it was the last night so she was
handing out free chips to everyone.
I think a new manager will take over in due course.
Nasty Brewery stuff going on me thinks.

Apologies for not replying sooner, never sleep. I was at a wedding and hence didn't show the game.

As for the Rifleman, not sure where the 'older manager stealing £18k' story came from. However, the leaseholders (who live in St Lucia) stopped paying Enterprise (owner) - this is who the enforcement officers were representing. Mary was far from terrorised and was doing everything she could to keep the pub going despite being told to shut the doors by the leaseholder.

She left the pub on Saturday as the electric and water was cut off due to unpaid bills, making the building uninhabitable.

Enterprise have sold the pub, with a load of others, to a US hedge fund, so it's not clear at the moment what will happen.

No nasty brewery action. Just a wannabe landlord trying to make too much money out of a pub that was profitable.

No worries Cookie - I watched the game on RugbyPass at home.

Lets all hope that the Rifleman reopens

Possibly converted flats. That will kiss the neighbors off even more.

Again, apologies for OT. The Rifleman is/was a local Quins pub.

For those interested, the rifleman reopened yesterday 😀

And for those who might be more interested by this - it's being run by Twickenham Fine Ales.

Apparently successful enough that they are already looking for an extra barman.
